🌩 - Ella

The thunder over head woke Kit who even in his groggy state saw that something was amiss.

Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he reached for Ella and was surprised to find her not in their bed. That snapped him out of sleep quickly.

For a moment the room lit up with light from the storm outside and he found Ella huddled in a corner shaking. Instantly, he went to her.

"Ella, my darling," He said so he wouldn't startle her.

"What are you doing out of bed? Come here, did the storm wake you?"

The war had gone on long enough, now Kit was nearly home. It was late when his regiment finally arrived, but he just had to see his love. Tiptoeing into the room where Ella slept, Kit gently shook his queen awake.

"Ella, Ella, my love, I'm home at last."

“Well, hello again.” He spoke up, looking at the other as he put down the phone. “You must like movies a whole lot, you seem to be coming here quite a lot.” He got it though, there were a few other customers too who came around more than usual, and he didn’t mind it, it was actually nice to have regulars. “So, what kind can I help you with this time?”

Immediately, he flickered his gaze away from her, quite used to being accused of being creepy just for spacing out across the room. “Sorry... I really didn’t mean anything by it,” he insisted. “I’m just trying to take some notes.” He gestured to the board behind her where the homework was listed. He had spaced out while copying the assignment down. He did that more and more these days.
