Been thinking a lot about a Coral Sea event (for some reason I really want it to ref TLM2)

There's a big holiday coming up in the Coral Sea and either Floyd or Azul brings some of their classmates with them by using a potion that can turn humans into merfolk (mentioning that it was originally concocted by the sister of the Sea Witch) so they can take part in the festival.

As for the event itself I have an idea that the holiday originated from celebrating the birth of the Sea King's granddaughter; as not only was it his first grandchild but also the first time in history a child from mer-human couple was ever born, so some merfolk come up on land to celebrate while some humans near the region take the potion to go below to celebrate unity between their species.

Now I can't decide between Floyd or Azul to be lead for this event; cuz on one hand if we go with Azul we could meet his mother (or a relative of his twisted from Morgana) but on the other if we go with Floyd we could finally meet Mr Leech (mermilf vs merdilf FIGHT)

Some other notes-

The story of TLM2 is twisted into Morgana following her sisters footsteps (bubbles? swim trail?? tentacle steps???), claiming to have helped out others after her sister's passing to the point of becoming like a fairy (mer) godmother to the Mermaid Princess's daughter and helping her reconnect with her mer heritage after an unknown event forced her family to cut off all contact with the sea (I also find it a little funny to think that the events of TLM2 likely led to friction between mermaids and humans again)

Lockets like Melody's are typically given to newborn merbabies (if we go with Azul for this, his mom would def show off his own locket)

The Atlantica Memorial Museum has a new exhibit for the holiday featuring Morgana's picture of Ursula ("The Sea Witch's sister likely kept this with her to cope with her grief and to remind her of her sister's benevolence to keep her going.")

It's been years since I last watched TLM2, so forgive me if I've entirely forgotten it except for the line "Ursula's crazy sister" and Ariel's daughter Melody being a reverse of her (a human obsessed with merfolk and wanting to go to the sea) 💀

Ah, yes... merforms for the non-merfolk have been highly requested by the fandom for years www This would be a great way to reference Morgana's potion that gives Melody fins and gills. The holiday being in commemoration of the Sea King's (human) granddaughter is also clever, since the NRC boys are often traveling abroad for special celebrations.

It's interesting to think about how the story may have been twisted to make Morgana also look like a saint in a similar vein to Ursula, the Sea Witch. (What would her title be, the Sea Witch's Sister????) We could revisit the Atlantica Memorial Museum and listen to all the horribly incorrect retellings of the events that went down. TLM2 could easily be incorporated into Twst in other ways, too. Like, we could go more in-depth about the history of human-merfolk relations and how the mermaid princess's daughter played a part in furthering her mother's legacy and bringing the two halves of her heritage together. Sebek would be great to have in this event for this very reason--

We've never heard Azul mention any family members besides his mom, stepdad, and grandma before, so I don't think it's likely we'll get a relative that's twisted!Morgana; the new family members featured in events tend to be characters that the boys have definitely talked about in their voice lines + dialogue before.

I remember the locket being an important item to Melody in the film, so it could for sure return in Twst as a key aspect of the holiday. Whichever family member shows up could share theirs and embarrass Azul or Floyd :))

*coughs* SORRY AZUL BUT MYVOTE GOES TO DADDYD LEECH I NEED FTHE COMPLETE MSET OF LeEFCH PARENTS... I also need to see how the usually devil-may-care Floyd acts around his father, whom he seems to respect and follow the advice of. I'd be okay meeting Stepfather Ashengrotto too, I'm curious if he's also a merman (since his race is technically never specified) and, if so, what kind he is. Mrs. Ashengrotto, Grandmom Ashengrotto. and Grandmom Leech are also possibilities, but I'm less interested in meeting them :v
