. if you were to rewrite your time travel fic but this time solely from alastor pov (like vox is still the only one that time travels not alastor but the fic is still fully alastor pov) how do you think it might change?
I think the earlier chapters would show him slowly starting to realise that something is off about Vox, something has changed and he really doesn't like it but he can't go investigate like he wants because he's tied to the hotel via his deal with Rosie. A lot of emotions bubbling away that he has to hide from everyone else. He was looking forward to clashing with Vox again, to fighting on the airwaves, and to soak in the attention that his picture box always provided him with. There would be a lot of 'this event should have happened but why not' from him and the readers knowing that in canon that's how it went.
Alastor's temper starts to flare. He doesn't like when people don't act like he expects and he knows Vox better than anyone. Then the extermination happens and he's even more confused because why did Vox help him if he's been ignoring him this whole time? There's a part of him that's touched by the care and protection but he pushes it deep, deep down because he's the Radio Demon and how dare that frivolous TV see him in such a vulnerable state.
Then the big finale at the end of part one and his deal breaking. After that it would focus on Alastor's glee at being freed, one taunting conversation with Rosie and then a second when he gets his staff repaired and agrees to stay with the hotel for a month, but what he's most looking forward to is prying the truth out of Vox, still believing things can return to normal. (Secretly troubled about the look on Vox's screen after the chain broke and what the other Overlord thinks of him now that he knows at least some of the truth about the deal).
Obviously the hotel gang would feature more prominently in Alastor's POV, Husk would make at least one snarky comment about Vox avoiding him and get punished for it, Vaggie really doesn't like him destroying the pylons and confronts him about it and I think there would be a conversation between Angel and Alastor about the Vees as he tries to put together what happened in the seven years that he'd been away that caused Vox to change. Charlie would notice something was wrong after how irate Alastor got at the news that Vox was fighting some nobody from the Doomsday District.
It would be also very clear that the obsession/pining goes both ways. Vox is his, his special thing that he chose for himself, the one who can match him and doesn't fear him, the one whose signal used to blend so perfectly with his even during their worst fights, the one constant in his afterlife and Alastor is finally free to act on his own desires. He just doesn't realise how much Vox has slipped through his fingers until that scene at Zestial's and then it's time for him to do the chasing.
