abby and ellie are obviously reflections of each other. and i feel like abbys ending heavily foreshadows ellie’s. both girls were grief stricken and traumatized by their fathers (or father figures) death. they both swore to kill that persons killer, though only abby followed through. by the end abby ends up ruining all her relationships because of this, and those people died before she could make amends. ellie also ruined her relationships (also tommy but we wont talk abt him) and they either die or leave before she can make amends too. abby though finds peace and a will to continue in lev. and i think its very obvious that ellie will find that peace too. joels quote also foreshadows this when he said “you keep finding something to live for.”
