I love Gerry. I've only had Gerry for one episode but I hope he like, idk properly dies and finds peace after this one. (knowing my luck he'll be eternal bound to an ounce of gravel or smth instead). God listening to him talk about the entities is fascinating the combination of obvious resentment and clearcut expertise Christ he was doomed from the moment of his conception. Never even had a shot. Geez.
ALSO I was not expected the fact that animals' fear factors into the dread powers. Really like that idea. I'd always thought that the Hunt and Flesh came more from the fear that humans are really no different from other animals, just lucky. (which I know is a concept that breaks a lot of people's brains) Or the existensial fear of our own chemicals and bodies because like, idk man bodies themselves are pretty scary, but I appreciate the concept, very interesting. I know there's some debate over whether the Extinction is a real thing and I'd argue if the fear of animals factors into it that could very well be pushing the extinction to greater power, though of course there's the question of whether we can count an animal fearing the variety of issues humans cause as them fearing the thing itself or fearing the humans causing it.
Also I appreciate his factory farm analogy for the purpose of the rituals....very....unsettling. I wonder what that would look like for the End. Would everyone just die?? Or the Corruption? Would disease and insects just start running rampant cause lemme tell ya man its already doing a pretty good job of that as is. I kinda don't wanna think about what the others would be like...too crazy to conceptualize (for me at least)
