fuck someone in training to become a future healthcare practitioner, and as someone who’s struggled with body image, this....this hits. It’s a great responsibility to have someone entrust their body, their health to you in any capacity. It’s a great honor to look after someone, for someone to come to you willingly for help with their afflictions.

Both these things can be true: 1. obesity, especially at the more extreme ends, is a modifiable risk factor for many diseases, chronic or otherwise. 2. our society is systemically set up against fat people and fat-phobia is rampant in the medical community. and ... just mulling over that last sentence of the statement, and how concern over someone’s well being has been used as an excuse for fat-phobia and body shaming. (...not sure if that sentence is quite what I mean but I’ll leave it for now)
