Eliot is brought out of himself by Quentin, he is made into the person he is, the person he can love. Because he and Quentin are their own people and also not, they belong to one another and magic itself has tied them into one another, made them whole in that togetherness. They cannot but love themselves in loving each other. Someday, Eliot will be able to untangle himself from the disbelief, the awe, that these thoughts bring forward in him. He’ll trust in it completely, he’ll stop being scared of losing it. He’ll find a way to stop feeling like an imposter every time someone bows to him, stop worrying that someone will take away the impossible happiness he’s managed to claim.
