First Day of College
So, made it through the first day, only 5 more years to go right?
Ok, but really I feel like I’ve spent my whole day at some crazy amusement park (which is definitely /not/ an enjoyable experience for me). There were SO many people the whole time. It’s absolutely overwhelming for someone with any type of anxiety or sensory issues?
Send help.
Student Research
As an art student in college I never experienced the research side of the university. The most research I did was with history, and I can say it wasn't as fun as what the students at TN Tech are up to. Every so often we highlight certain students or even write up a story on the research they're doing, and of course each of those needs photos, which is when I come in. It's really cool to get to learn about what all goes on and a little schooling on some new subjects. Can't say I understand most of what these student's research, but it's great to be able to see and learn a little bit about what they are doing.
Faculty Awards
Each year the University hands out awards to it's faculty, and this past year we wanted to try something a little different from the typical head shot on white photos. For when the image were shown for the individual, we wanted to give the viewer an idea to what department the faculty member was a part of without having to describe it in text. Here are just a few of the ones I took.
iCube
Being a photographer for a University, you tend to be only a witness to a lot of things going on, but there are those moments that something really awesome comes along that I get to experience. For iCube, it's their Visbox, an immersive 3D experience that photos simply can not do justice for. It's one of those things that's hard to explain to someone that has never experienced it, but looking at the image above, imagine what's on the wall for you, is floating mid-air for her. To her, her hand is actually inside a human heart. Same thing below, to her, that human skeleton is standing in front of her (though, do to her breaking the 4th wall rule for a photo, she is only looking at me. You get the idea, though!) If you're a student or faculty at TN Tech, I recommend you sign up for a tour of this place!
Dean Payne
There are those people that you always enjoy working with and Dean Payne is one of them for me. He always has a smile on and is always helpful to the students, faculty, and even photographers like me.
Candid Moment
Some days I'm not running around between events and have the opportunity to stroll around campus to capture a candid moment of the students enjoying their free time between classes. A lot of the times I see students taking advantage of the free time by setting hammocks up at various locations around the campus to take a nap, read, or even do homework.
Cookeville Sourcebook
New work I took for a local design firm that was tasked with creating a guide book to the city of Cookeville and here are a few screenshots of the pages my photos were featured on. The rest of the Sourcebook can be seen in digital form here.
