But what does TN actually feel like though?

I’m telling ya it’s hard going when you look perfectly normal whilst feeling like: Someone is slicing between each of your teeth with a razor blade while your head is being squeezed in a vice grip Or like: Somebody is literally drilling through your face Or like: Someone is viciously stabbing you with a triangular file repeatedly in your lower jaw through your ear Or like: someone is burning your skin off then injecting you in your face with a 10inch needle I could go on all day, but you catch my drift.. it FUCKING HURTS. I’m a mother, but I would gladly give birth everyday for the rest of my life before having to deal with another attack.

TN is an invisible illness which only usually affects one side of the face and there are different types;

TN1 (Typical TN) is characterised by short (30secs - 30mins) sudden attacks. Most people say these feel like an electric shock zapping their faces although each attack can feel different.

ATN (Atypical TN) is characterised by a constant pressure/pain. Some people have reported that TN1 is more painful than ATN but I personally do not believe this theory.

Finally we have bilateral TN (TN affecting both left & right sides of the face)

Now, I am lucky enough so suffer from TN1 & ATN... BILATERALLY

So I decided to make this page to spread some awareness, because up until my diagnosis I had never heard of this condition and I am sure I am not the only one!
