Tokyo In Tulsa 2013 Convention Report (Friday)
So, I had a fantastic time at TnT this year!
It was actually my first time to stay for the entire weekend, even though this con is literally thirty minutes from my house. (I usually would only attend on Saturdays because of work and what not.)
We ended up arriving to the convention around 1:30. Parking was a mess, but what else is new? This is true of all downtown conventions. But we ended up paying way too much for parking and went into the convention for about an hour and half and wandered around the artists' alley, which happens to be my most favoritest place at a con! One of the women running the booths was dressed at THE MOST ADORABLE PINKIE PIE EVER! And I fell in love with her week, because she had like a million different Eeveelution prints/badges/pins. I think I ended up buying like three things from here.
After wandering around and looking at all the pretty things, we headed to our hotel. It was interesting, because the hotel we stayed in was considered the "overflow" hotel, but it was seriously right next door. I'd say even a little closer than The Doubletree, which was the official hotel. But, guys. This hotel. OH, MAN. It was beautiful! It had a modern feel to it, which was cool, but it was also GINORMOUS! It honestly felt more like a suite. Right when you walked in there was a little television room with a big flat screen, table and chairs. This, of course, ended up being the designated alcohol table. Then was the bathroom, which was a little weird because there was this opaque window IN THE SHOWER. If you put your body up against it, people could see everything. (Talk about awkward.) Needless to say, I usually showered when no one was there or I would turn the light of. Heehee.
After settling down, I got dressed in Beemo. People were so nice! I got complimented on the unique design of my outfit, because no one had really seen a humanoid, female Beemo before. Plus I loved that outfit because it was pretty comfortable, except for the whole controller cord around my neck nearly choking me. And I had headphones on that were really limiting my hearing. I ended up wearing them around my neck later in the afternoon. But the costume was fun! There were probably, I don't know...37 Fionas there, so some of the 14-year-olds fangirled out when they saw me, and I got some pictures with a few of 'em.
Later that evening was sail dress Ariel. I was so excited for this cosplay! Probably more than any other, mostly because I'm Aerielle, and...Ariel. So...5-year-old dream come true? We then headed over to the convention center and met up with my amazing photographer friend, and I got to do my first real photo shoot! It was so much fun, but a little challenging. I felt stupid at times, but I was also a bit relaxed because I've known this girl forever and I'm pretty comfortable around her.
After that, she had to bounce for a volunteers' meeting, so the rest of us headed up to wait in line for the Destrose concert.
Oh, my goodness. Destrose. They were phenomenal. Regardless of the fact I had no idea what they were saying, they really rocked it. It was their first time in America, and I think the audience made them feel very welcome and appreciated. The lead singer was a total bad ass, and they performed live so well. I'm a little weary of concerts for this reason, but they did great! I really want to get their CD after hearing them.
After that, we headed back to the room to wind down. We snacked, played some cards, watched some television and went to bed early. (Early being like...1:30.)
