srsly how are you overlooking all the articles interviewing the duffer brothers? they’re doing way too much for it to be just “preserving a plot twist.” it honestly makes me sick how smug they are about will’s self acceptance arc and about experiences that “every queer kid goes through” (false! not all of us had sad unrequited feelings) as if they know shit about it, but like, they are saying all that and going way too hard for it to be anything other than god’s honest truth. if it was just a one off comment or something then whatever but they just keep bringing up his sad unrequited feelings and self-acceptance arc over and over again. what’s your response to that, since you seem so confident about byler? i realize those are kind of fighting words but i’m genuinely curious because as much as i want to i can’t see a way back from this
Well, that seems seriously unpleasant so I ignore it. I squint and scroll whenever it is shoved in my face.
I - without reading it - assume they are doing the same thing as ever and tell us exactly where Will is at that moment with as much secrecy as possible. So after season 3 he was just missing playing DnD with his friends and not gay. After season 4 he was clearly in love with Mike. After Vol 1 he learned that the only thing that matters is accepting oneself fully. After Vol 2 he learned that he has to be open to not be scared of being found out and it is fine if your crush does not feel the same thing and that he will be fine anyway. I've played these games before. And I HATED that interview in which Noah literally said Will wasn't gay. Did not believe it though.
IF Byler is not endgame after all, I will have to - as someone on the tag aptly put it weeks ago - seriously have to examine my relationship with reality. I will then engage and argue with interviews. I do think it would mean the Duffers fucked up as well as I.
