They think it's cool and like it so much more than boats, those are big and noisy. Plus, it's fun to follow after you as you move through the water!

I think the twins like it more since they can follow you easily with how fast you move. Azul I think would like to observe, though you might be able to get him in his human form on a board. He has awful balance though, so more likely than not he's clutching on to you the entire time to stay on his feet. But it's cute seeing the usually smooth and suave Azul be anxious and dependent on you.

Random thing, but between the boys who want to have children in the future who do you think are more open to have adopted children?

The question just came to me when randomly the thought "wait, what if Yuu doesn't want to get pregnant in the future?" came to mind

Ideally, none of them would mind. If it's what you want, then they are more than happy to provide! If we wanted to be a bit more realistic, there are a few where adopting might be an issue.

(I had to go through my brain again to remember who I think wouldn't have kids cause I couldn't find my post, but Leona, Ace, Jamil, and Idia wouldn't want kids so they aren't here. I can't remember if I had more or not on the list)

Kalim and Malleus are the first two where it would be an issue. Quite frankly, the people around them wouldn't allow it. The Asim family gives me the vibe of those who prioritize blood relations as family (if the 30+ kids didn't help with that already). Unless the kid was adopted as an infant and looked very similar to you or Kalim so that plausible deniability was possible, they couldn't risk it. Kalim is often dealing with death threats and assassination attempts just so the next member of the family can be the heir, if extended family were to find out that your kids (and thus next heir) wasn't blood related to Kalim, then there could probably be some legal issues with inheritance. Malleus, similarly, is under a tight leash with the Briar Valley's council that Lilia has been struggling to remove. I haven't seen much of Chp 7 so I'm working with very limited information mind you, but from what I can tell they are very traditional and extremely concerned with maintaining the Draconia (and the draconian part) bloodline strong. I feel that adoption to them would be out of the question with no hesitation. Neither of them I think would feel very strongly against it though: Kalim would see it as an opportunity to grow your happy family and Malleus I think would actually strongly relate, as he himself is an orphan. He'd see it as an opportunity to take after Lilia and give the love and care to a child that more than deserves it. If they really are set with adoption with you, then Malleus would have no trouble setting his foot down, he is the rightful ruler of Briar Valley and if he says that's his kid and heir, then that's his motherfucking kid bitch! Kalim I think would require that he's not only grown a sturdy backbone as an adult, but also a very ironclad will and testament. But it's not impossible, just very very difficult.

The next ones that would have some concerns about it would be Riddle, Sebek, and Ruggie. Riddle's case is a bit similar to Kalim's but not really. It's more so whether is family (specifically his mother) would accept his child being adopted. I think the fear of his kid being alienated from the family would be a lot for him, and I can't really gauge if I this Mrs. Rosehearts would be opposed to it or not, as well as whether Riddle remains in contact with her as an adult and still values her opinion as well. I think it would depend on the circumstances, sadly enough: if you were unable to have biological kids for whatever reason or if you could but would be extremely risk on your health, as a doctor I think she would understand. Sebek though I think would struggle internally a lot, he's not opposed to the idea of adoption at all, but he's so attached to his family name and his fae blood. I think knowing that he has a child that might not be accepted as a true Zigvolt for not being blood related (and potentially a human) would eat him up. He already had to deal with that himself (externally and internally, I'm not sure). But he's also been around Lilia a lot, and I think some positive reinforcement and encouragement from him would help a lot. Ruggie is very simple, adoption is so fucking expensive, man. That's a lot of fucking money, so he's willing to wait as long as needed to save up.

The rest of the cast I think wouldn't have any qualms about it, as there's no history or trauma that I think would affect their decision. I think Trey, Deuce, Azul, Jade, Jack, Rook, and Silver are the most eager to have a family, while Cater, Vil, Epel and Lila are okay not having any if you don't want any either. I think Floyd would greatly depend, as much as I love him, massive mood swings are not great for raising children so he'd need a lot of maturing to do, if he even wants kids (he keeps changing his mind about it, some days he's in love with the idea, other days he's pretty indifferent) but he wouldn't mind having kids with you. Silver would obviously love the idea, he's had a great experience and father, he'd want to pass that experience along to his own kid. So if adopting is an option, then why not! If it's what you want (and they think raising a baby with you is something they'd like to do) then who are they to oppose? They'll love that kid from the moment their eyes meet, as much as they love you!

I think it's a neat idea! And it makes a lot of sense, I don't think someone would want to stare at their friend's abdomen while talking to them alskjdalsjdalsjkf

I follow otherwindow and they have a lot of world-building idea and stuff on their blog! They're super cool and great for references, I think their flower zombies went popular a while back, I suggest following them for inspiration!

Now that I’m thinking about it, I don’t remember you ever talking about your headcannon of what type of octopus Azul’s mom is

Is she also a giant pacific octopus like her son or some other species?

I never said anything about her, but I personally like to think that she is. In my head, for merfolk the egg carrier's species takes priority. I'm basing this off of how birth and fetus complications can arise when the birth giver and a child in the womb have different blood types. I think the most simple way to explain it is that if the baby's blood type is different, the body will sometimes register it as an invader and will develop antibodies to kill it. Obviously it's more complicated, but that's the simplest explanation I can give, lol.

So I think that, in order for the baby to be most compatible with the DNA in the eggs, it will often conform to match the egg carrier's genes as to not be recognized as a foreign body. Thus, if the parents are two different species of merfolk, then often the children will take after their egg carrier rather than the other parent. It's not impossible for them to turn out like their other parent, as sometimes the species are very compatible. Other times, that baby will be born akin to the equivalent of a premature baby, a runt, or just more fragile for some time. It's not super common, but it's not rare either, as more couples from different species start to arise.

So basically, yes I think she is as well. Though, it's more a question of whether or not her ex-husband was also a giant pacific octopus or another octopus or a whole different type of merfolk entirely.

No cause like it fits so many characters so well in certain contexts? I think PTM Jade where he is currently is a bit too soft for this song, though I am considering using it as a reference for a different work with him.

No for me it fits best for madoka au Ace (also known as RTU). The song has a certain level of obsession to it, possessiveness and desire that only fits RTU Ace in this scenario. He's spent so long in one too many timeloops, that the fact that he finally gets to claim you in the last one has his mind reeling and desperate to feel those sensations, to hear your voice, to see your expressions and body in a scene unique only to him. You're his, it doesn't matter that you don't remember it this time, your body, and soul do, nearly instinctively. Have you watched Future Diaries/Mirai Nikki? Ace is very similar to Yuno Gasai in this regard.

I've been watching some videos about it recently and it got me thinking

The octotrio having a crush or s/o who has Thalassophobia must be hard

I'd feel bad it if it was Yuu/player, cause they had to go into the Coral Sea during Book 3 and that must have not been a good time. I think it can be triggered by certain things, like the idea of sea creatures, or being on a boat in open water, but I think the octotrio would be massively disappointed, tbh.

The ocean is not just their home, it's an integral part of their culture and who they are as a person. To fall for someone who fears that part of you, I think quite honestly would kill off any affection you would have for them, to be frank.

Okay, I've been building the courage to send something because this been on my mind for a while

Correct me if someone already something like this, but do you think the trio would help us when learning to swim? I know for a fact the tweels are going to use this opportunity for teasing and scares, but I think Azul would be pretty nice

Mmm depends on what the relationship is with them. I think as acquaintances, they'd expect something in return. As friends, the twins would be more inclined to tease and lightly bully you in the water. If you're already scared of swimming, then Azul would be better as he's a slower swimmer with more compassion compared to the twins. If your their partner, Azul's just a bit sweeter on you, offering reassurances. The twins are significantly sweeter as well, seeing as their instinct makes them want to demon what good mates they'd make. So they're more inclined to actually teach you to swim and show off how good of swimmers they are!
