13. cuddling (omg, i am so late I am so sorry)
Logan was absolutely buried in homework. His phone was on Do Not Disturb while he tried to finish the math he had postponed to help Sarah with her math homework. Sometimes, he couldn't help but wonder if being a math tutor was biting off more than he could chew. He already had to help Carlos with his homework, so adding someone else to the mix was a bit challenging. Thankfully, Sarah soaked up logic like a sponge.
Sarah: Can you come over?
He froze. Panic swam to the surface and heated his skin. It had been sent an hour ago, and the prospect of leaving her on delivered scared him. Since love science had failed him, he had been struggling with Camille and Sarah. It wasn't that he couldn't choose between them, but he wasn't sure what to say to them. He had never been honest about his feelings before. Without another thought, he slipped his phone in his pocket and practically raced to her apartment. As long as he's lived at the PalmWoods, he never ventured to the top floors. He and his friends preferred the second floor because it was closer to the pool.
The nerdy boy knocked on the door. His heart was beating in his ears. He'd been avoiding her for quite a bit. It was nerve-wracking standing in front of her door. Before he could turn and accept that she was mad at him, Sarah opened the door with a blanket around her shoulders and a mug of chamomile tea in her hands. She had been crying, and Logan felt his heart clench.
"I'm watching a movie," Sarah sniffled, wiping the tear stains off her face. "I just-- I can't be alone right now..." She shuffled out of the way to let her into the apartment. It was cleaner than the last time he saw it.
He hesitantly stepped into the apartment and took his shoes off at the door. A pile of shoes was in the corner. The movie on the television was paused. Logan sat on the couch next to Sarah, who stared at the remote in her hand. He recognized the DVD case on the table from Ronnie's box of movies. She was watching Mamma Mia. After a moment, the movie continued, and the blonde put her mug on the coffee table.
Wordlessly, she leaned against Logan and sniffled. Slipping Through Your Fingers had just started a couple of minutes ago, and as soon as the film was playing again, the girl had started bawling. Logan awkwardly wrapped his arms around her and patted her back as she cried. This was not how he expected his Saturday to go.
