okay so idk if you remember that post i did aaages back about how i think malfoy had a ferret kink
well, i also have a similar idea for the 🤩marauders🤩 soooo
james, in animagus form, fell in love with a doe that he swears looks like lily “she had the exact same red hair, moony!!” and he calls her lilo cos lily + doe
he looks for and follows lilo around like a lost puppy every full moon and, just like her human counterpart, she pays no attention to him but he insists that “she’s just playing hard to get, i’ll win her over” “you’ll win her over the day you get evans to go out with you” “well, more fool you pads cos i’m gonna marry that girl someday :)”
the marauders tease him about it non STOP, and about how he can’t get the girl of his dreams in either world “i can’t believe you fell in love with a doe” “you shag a different dog every month pads stfu” “no, no, he’s got a point” “and you can shut it too moony, i saw you when we were watching that documentary about wolves-”
they think they’re being so sneaky about it but they’re literally so loud and they don’t even realise, that the girls overhear without even meaning to, but because their animal lives mirror their human lives, the girls assume it’s all just code names
like they’ll overhear a conversation like “hey prongs, how’s lilo doing? looked in your direction yet?” “hey pads how’s that poodle? or was it a golden retriever this month? or a chihuahua, hmm...”
and they obviously assume that lilo is lily, but then they spend they next few weeks trying to figure out who ‘poodle’ and ‘golden retriever’ and ‘chihuahua’ are, coming up with all these theories and always getting it wrong
he accidentally calls lily lilo on their wedding day and the marauders just burst into laughter while everyone just glares at them cos they assume it’s just some cute nickname he has for her and cos they’re low-key interrupting the ceremony
