if someone in your life suffers with paranoia, hallucinations, or anything similar, it's not always the best to just tell them it's not happening.
one example! i was fully convinced that there were bugs in our water. despite constant reassurance from everyone else, i could not shake the feeling that our water was contaminated.
so for that part of my life, my dad would always show me his decontamination of the water. he'd boil the water in front of me (sometimes multiple times), and pour it into a glass he'd clean in front of my eyes. then he'd drink it, swirl it around, and announce
telling someone that what they're seeing isn't real doesn't do anything but make them feel worse. but proving to them that if it were real, then they are safe, makes all the difference.
