How many times did installing a regent actually work? I feel every time I hear about a regent taking power in history, they end up just holding onto power and not giving it to the actual heir they're supposed to be raising. Why did monarchies keep doing this? Is it just survivorship bias and we only hear about the rare ones that went horribly?
