turns out, the trainer had lied about her needing to miss a few weeks, being checked out at the hospital and getting a physical proved that she just needed to to wear the bubble until the first game of march.
only 7 games, including this one. with the big break in the middle, she would get her stitches after the first week and be able to go without the bubble.
her and macklin sat in their hotel room, they switched with william and will for the rest of the season, the first month they didn’t room together on the road.
sitting on the bus from san jose to seattle, waiting for everyone else to get off the bus, macklin helped indigo off the bus.
he carried both of their bags to their shared room, macklin seemed to pity her, is what she would say. he had always been like that when she got injured.
macklin pushed the bags to the corner of the room. “how are you feeling?” he asked. “i’m fine.” she promised, laying down on the bed. “do you need anything?” he asked, calling for some room service.
she shook her head, pulling the blanket over her. she knew macklin was orderer food, specifically soft food for her. barley able to open her mouth.
after he ordered the food, he went down the haul and grabbed some ice, before shoving it in the ziplock bag and giving it to indigo to lay on her cheek.
macklin hand order indigo some yogurt and ice cream. the only things she could really eat since she didn’t like peanut butter and jelly.
“you know you don’t have to do this.” she told him. “i want to, you always take care of me.” his kissed her on the head. going to grab the room service.
macklin handed her, her food and took his. the two ate in silence, as they usually do. enjoying each others company.
macklin set the dishes down, placing them buy the door. he climbed into bed with indigo, cuddling into her, he slid his arm under her, tucking his head into her chest.
macklin turned on their favorite movie, a movie they’ve watched a million times together, Bambi.
she laid her none injured cheek on his head, holding his hand in hers. she wanted to be as close to him as possible.
he makes her feel safe, she was the safest around him, he is her safe space. and she is his, they held each other, watching bambi on the tv.
that was their perfect date night, watching bambi and being together.
