The older sibling curse.
Of Pissed Off Dogs and Peace Offerings
Jeff and Toby just want to love each other in peace. However it appears there is someone they forgot to ask.
Smile Dog is extremely protective of Jeff.
Now this was no secret. Everyone within the mansion knew this. It’s the reason many residents avoided Jeff’s room, or even hesitated to sit next to him unless Smile had sniffed them down.
Very few people were able to get by these unspoken rules. Ben, Sally, and begrudgingly, Slender man.
But that was it, no one else.
So why, pray tell, does a certain axe murderer seem to believe he is an acceptation?
And why, pray tell, does Jeff let him get away with it?
He’s even started shutting Smile Dog out of his room. This mildly irritated her. She would use her abnormally large malamute body to bust it down, but she learned her lesson the first time she tried that.
Smile Dog had just returned from a very successful hunt.
She was proudly trotting through the mansion with her trophy (some random man’s ulna bone). Jeff was gonna be so proud of her when she dropped this gift off on his freshly washed bedspread.
Residents in the hallways clear a path for her, nervously eyeing her as she wordlessly intimidated the other killers.
When she arrived to Jeff’s room, she was rather shocked to find his door closed. Jeff hardly ever closed his door. Only at night, and with Smile in the room with him.
She knocked the joint end of the bone against the door, waiting patiently for her owner to let her in.
Nothing
She tried again, almost breaking the blood covered bone in the process.
Nothing
A couple of residents passed by his room with worried looks. It was never a good thing when Smile Dog didn’t get her way.
She clear fully set her prized possession down before emitting a distorted bark. Sort of her way of “counting to 10” when her edgy son misbehaves.
Still. Nothing.
Smile sighed loudly and pressed her fuzzy ear to the oak door. Jeff better be busy as hell, but even that’s no excuse to ignore Smile Dog.
The wrestling of bed covers and grunting.
But wait.
That wasn’t Jeff.
Her ears perked up when a small yelp slipped through the door.
Now THAT was Jeff.
Smile Dog let out a demonic yowl that damn near broke the near by windows.
The sounds behind the door came to an abrupt end. She heard footsteps approaching before the door creaked open.
Jeff peaked out, his look of confusion turning to one of annoyance.
“Really?” He deadpanned
She cocked her head, nosing the bone to his feet.
“Oh,” he sighed, “thank you, Smile.”
Her blood soaked tail wagged as she peered around Jeff’s thin frame.
Before halting entirely.
Who was that? Who was with Jeff? Not one of the approved people, she can tell you that.
Her ears lowered as her teeth bared.
“Stooop,” Jeff ruffled the fur on her head, “he’s fine, we were having fun.”
That’s one way to put it. Now that Smile Dog took in Jeff’s appearance it became more clear what they were up to.
She only now noticed that the shirt he had haphazardly thrown on wasn’t his.
Jeff’s ebony locs were disheveled. He was out of breath and flushed. The pink a stark contrast against his ivory skin.
Glaring at Toby helped her take in his state as well.
Shirtless, sweaty, flushed, and-
Were those scratch marks down his back? The red lines were raw and slowly trickling blood down his spine.
Those little freaks. She huffed and pawed at Jeff’s ankle.
“What? We’re almost done, I promise.”
No no no you two are done NOW.
She barked at him. Not aggressively, but authoritatively.
“Please? Just give me a little bit.” Jeff begged like a child begging to stay up past their bedtime.
She peered back to Toby on the bed. He awkwardly avoided eye contact with the mutated malamute.
How disrespectful
“Here,” Jeff grunted as he leaned down, “I’ll take this with me.”
He picked up the ulna at his feet and shook the bone.
“For protection, right?” He eyed her.
She stared the bone down before huffing and turning away.
“Thank youuu,” Jeff slyly drew out as she walked away, “just a few more minutes, ‘kay?”
A few more minutes her ass
She was gonna spend the “few more minutes” hunting down squirrels to leave in Toby’s bed.
Nobody touched her boy and got away with it. And without even asking for her blessing? I mean c’mon, let a girl sniff you down before you romance her son.
Turns out Toby actually collects bones and the squirrel she left for him were just what he wanted. You can imagine her annoyed when she peaking into his room the next morning and saw him happily scrubbing gunk off of its skull.
It pissed her off so bad she had to chew up one of Ben’s controllers about it.
The two boys continued to meet up behind her back. She caught them almost every time, of course.
One night, Jeff wanted Toby to sleep in his room with him. However he knew that Smile Dog wouldn’t let that happen.
Unless he formally introduced them and Toby made it clear that he wasn’t a threat.
So Jeff, feeling pathetic as ever, asked Toby to bring back a “peace offering” (a human femur bone, Smile Dogs favorite) from his mission.
The hatchet welding maniac was confused but obliged when Jeff said he would explain when he returned.
When Toby returned he made a beeline for Jeff’s room.
Only to be met with Jeff and Smile Dogs sitting on his bed like it was an intervention.
“W-What is all this?” Toby gestured to the two
“Stupidity, that’s what,” Jeff rolled his eyes and pat Smile Dogs back, “you got the bone?”
The brunette hoisted his bag off of his shoulders and pulled a blood soaked femur bone out.
“Y-Yes?” He wiggled the bone between his fingers, “why did you h-have me grab this?”
“A peace offering,” Jeff sighed before turning to Smile, “you see? He even got you a femur, your favorite.”
The malamute eyed the bone before staring the blood covered man down.
She sighed before slightly backed away from the edge of the bed.
“You can just set it there,” Jeff awkwardly gestured to the now open space in front of Smile Dog.
Oh.
Oh that’s what this was.
Toby vaguely remembers Ben having to bring Smile Dog a “peace offering” a few months back . It was only then that Smile Dog seemed to let the link lookalike around Jeff.
“Ah,” Toby said in recognition, “I see.”
He graciously placed the bone before the (overly spoiled) mutated malamute.
He put his hands up after as a sign of innocence before fully backing away.
Now the inspection could begin.
She sniffed the bone and took in its appearance.
God, look at that subtle blood red coloring.
Oh my god, it even has a piece of muscle left on it.
It was perfect, maybe the best she had been offered.
She slowly took the bone into her maw to build up suspense.
Before happily trotting off to her bed in Jeff’s closet.
The boys sighed in relief as she joyfully chewed on the bone.
“So w-what does that m-mean?” Toby hesitantly asked.
“That’s means,” Jeff grabbed Toby’s arm and led him to his bed, “you and I can have some uninterrupted fun.”
It was well know that anyone who wanted to be in Jeff’s life had to bring Smile Dog a femur bone. That’s just how it was
Now, was this because she was very protective of Jeff?
Of course.
Was this ALSO because she loved femur bones but hated getting them her self because of how difficult they are to remove from a body.
Perhaps
