Watched only two eps of toei go tonight and it won’t be something I go back to regularly since it was just something me and my friends had on a wheel to watch + im nowhere near in the mood to pick up something length but I can safely say yeah no the hate for this gotta be super over exaggerated. It is absolutely a basic mecha but… a lot were at the same time as this yet get praised.
You can say it sucks in the context of getter go manga being so insane but there was nothing they could do when it was being made simultaneously as the manga, throwing in shin getter or cosmic horror elements would not mesh with the classic super robot vibes it’s going for. It’s not that bad and deserves to be fully subbed! That’s the worst part about it being so hated! And im someone who barely peep regular toei getter and my brain hinges on ryoma but this was a nice time for the bits I saw and I’m sure it’ll be when I randomly decide to go back to it.
