I've been having a hell of a time with writer's block. A lot is going on and I think I'm just damaging my instrument in a lot of ways. I always wanted to return the to Scomverse, but depression has sort of made it difficult. Wrapping up Bittersweet Symphony has become a priority and will hopefully resume soon.
Anyway I decided to challenge myself and write a short post SCOM piece from the POV of a villain in Sweet Child. I am not putting this on Ao3 yet, because it kind of was meant to be part of another story.
For those who know, I hope you like it?
Languidere Evoldo stretched her top two arms to the sky, reaching far above the talons that made up her hair.
She arched the upper most right arm over her left and then opposite, while her lower arms rested on her slim little waist, twisting it horizontally in a tight motion.
It was quite important, really. Keeping one’s figure up at all times. Even when it seemed that the chips were flipped on the other side of your favor – if you looked good, and you maintained your control at all times, you could brush off any bad press.
Make them look the other way with the flash of your perfect fangs. An enigmatic smile had gotten her behind the scenes of so many exclusive events for as far back as she could remember.
Many witches, even those from well connected families – scoffed at the designation of “socialite”, but Lang embraced it.
Listed as one of the Boiling Isles most photographed socialites since age 13, Languidere understood the importance of being seen. She’d been pleased enough to entertain the marriage of Boscha Meagara for the sole reason that they had both shared this sentiment. Boscha was beautiful. That much Lang could appreciate. “Was” being the key word there. Pregnancy was a fun little game to play with her erstwhile wife, but once the twins came and it was clear that neither Ev nor Osma would fulfill their duties to the Evoldo family as proper heirs to the Oracle throne, Boscha became boring and shrill.
Lang had very little time to claim her flag on the title of acting High Oracle. Being mother to the heirs would have given her grandfather reason to anoint her upon his own passing – but that man was stubborn as Tartarus and insisted on testing the children before their bile sacs had even fully unfolded.
Boscha insisted on Lang being present for feedings and bedtimes. She hadn’t managed to regain her figure just yet. Her body leaked with milk, and Lang craved the spotlight! She’d already seen that bitch Odalia cozying up to Osran. Promising him the heirs he required to continue their bloodline as so many Evoldos had in the past.
He’d been keen to accept Odalia’s plan to secure what he’d needed to maintain power. Too keen. If Lang had been in charge, that grimwalker would have been in their hands and bled dry before Odalia had time to finish coloring her coif with whatever cheap dye she used.
But alas. Osran was taken in by the woman’s promises, most likely due to Boscha’s failures, and Lang’s by default. He learned the hard way that the woman was a con artist – just like Belos had been.
And thus, in the end, he would only have one more place to turn to replenish his power. Back to his own family.
And Lang had made it clear that she would be the first in line to do what was necessary.
Cherub! Reader's relationship with: The Emperor's Coven!
The Coven heads ;
Terra Snapdragon : Cherub! Reader is.... disturbed by Terra. Disliking how she is able to manipulate people with her plants while Terra sees Reader as an easy way on Belos's good list (fyi, Cherub! Reader trys their HARDEST to avoid her).
-
Adrian Graye Vernworth : Their relationship with the illusion coven head is actually pretty okay. Cherub! Reader enjoys Adrian's ability to make illusions and his flamboyant personality.
Adrian doesn't mind showing this kid some spells if it means a boost in popularity, I mean- hanging out with the angel kid would make anyone semi-famous and he likes being in the limelight.
-
Hettie Cutburn : Reader really likes Hettie. Although, she can be a bit rough at times, they enjoy learning from the witch. And, Hettie's fine with Cherub! Reader hanging around and akin to Adrian likes showing them spells but instead of it being for fame, it's for having an pseudo apprentice.
-
Osran : They aren't around Osran that much, but, when they do pass by him they give a kind "Good morning!" Or "Good night!" And he usually returns it with a smile or a small wave.
-
Vitimir : Cherub! Reader is neutral with Vitimir, they have read a few of his books he's made as the Potion Head.
-
Mason : Reader hasn't interacted with Mason more than one time, and that was during a meeting they accidentally intruded on.
-
Darius Deamonne : Darius is actually the one who tried to befriend Cherub! Reader, or as much as an adult could with a teenager. His reasoning is due to their magic. Angelic magic is unable to be controlled by the many existing seals the emperor's coven has.
This was found out after Belos tried to put a sigil onto Reader (Reader being unaware of what it could do) when their magic rejected it and made the sigil burn off, effecting Cherub! Reader badly as they got a burn scar which was unable to be healed by even Hettie's magic.
Other magics were then tested on them incase it could case damage to them and it was found out they were either unaffected, immune, or only slightly affected by the majority of spells the Coven (and Belos) uses.
Cherub! Reader doesn't really mind Darius, but they don't really "hang out" with him because abomination magic is unable to be used by Reader.
-
Eberwolf : Reader found Eberwolf to be very cute the first time they saw him and scooped him up, thinking he was a pet, afterwards one they found out he wasn't apologized a ton-
Eber did end up forgiving them though, it wasn't the child's fault for not knowing he was an adult.
-
Raine : Cherub! Reader is pumped to learn bard magic and Raine is surprised to see them. They are reminded a lot of Eda with their whole bird (angel) theme.
Belos would suggest a harp for Reader's instrument and they are unsure. Of course, they do try out a harp but aren't sure if it is for them.
Raine, once they are to be revealed as a rebel Cherub! Reader attempted to go see them and make sure they didn't get hurt (around this time finding about how the Emperor's coven is kinda bad) but is stopped by Belos.
-
Miscellaneous ;
Lilith Clawthorne : Akin to Raine, Lilith was shocked when she first saw Cherub! Reader. After learning they were in fact not cursed (or Eda's secret child-) She'd be protective of the angel.
Belos would claim Cherub! Reader being a sign from the titan that he is correct and wild witches should all join a coven. Him making up some bullcrap on how angels were servants of the titan.
So, Lilith being a devoted follower of the titan she would be the one around them the most aside from Belos.
-
Hunter / Golden Guard : Hunter would be Cherub! Reader's personal guard, following them around when he is able (as he is usually not allowed to join them when they hang out with the other coven heads).
He and the angel would have a strained relationship as he continously would stop them from doing (not so) dangerous things.
This would cause Reader to avoid being around him as much as possibly, usually going to Hettie and Raine when able.
Steve : Reader would run into Steve one day and immediately take a liking to him, compared to the closed off and very professional people he was a breath of fresh air and they'd try to hang out with him.
But, due to the fact Steve was a scout, they were limited in how much time they could spend with him. Steve finds this angel kid kind and playful and would also like spending time with them.
Steve is one of the people Cherub! Reader could actually call a friend.
-
Kikimora : Cherub! Reader would get Kikimora's attention as soon as she learned of their existence, knowing Reader had to be of somewhat importance to the Emperor she would basically fall over herself trying to assist Reader in any way possible.
Reader doesn't notice this and just thinks Kiki is just a very nice person (which is far from the truth-).
The Emperor ;
Belos : Belos is the first person Cherub! Reader met. After they ended up in the isles, they searched for a place that they found the most interesting.
The castle was the first place they found and using some magic they managed to teleport into the building, unfortunately, they were still getting a hang of new branches of magic at the time and had teleported straight into the emperor's throne room.
And while Belos was just sitting there.
Reader didn't expect to see Belos and got scared, Belos was surprised as well at the intruder and at their form. He would've ended up killing them if it weren't for their halo and wings.
He put it together and calmed the teen. For Belos, he saw this as a sign. A sign from God that he was correct in his ways. And now, with a young angel supposedly sent down from the heavenly gates to learn, he would take up the role of a mentor.
Cherub! Reader's relationship with Belos is good (season 1) and they think he is a very kind and very old man.
Young Eda spinoff this. Philip and Caleb spinoff that. Adult Hexsquad spinoff would be fire. But hear me out.
Gimme a spinoff called Lost Hoots. A show that goes through all the theoretical adventures we could have gotten if the show hadn't been shortened. No serialized plot needed, just show us what these intended episodes would have been like so we could explore x character or x location and how they would have fit into the Owl House world. Examples include:
Hettie Cutburn episode
Vitimir episode
Osran episode
Mason episode
Steve and Matt episode
Beach day episode
Bat Queen origin episode
Hooty origin episode
Dell episode
Clawthorne family healing episode
Emira episode
Vee and Camila episode
Human realm shenanigans episode
Multi-trackers episode
Demon realm food episode
Glandus episode
St. Epiderm episode
Dadrius and Sonter episode
Wittebane bros and Evelyn backstory episode
RAEDA WEDDING episode
The possibilities I tell you.
Don't come @ me saying it's too late, the show's already over; I know that. Let a guy dream about what could have been and what can still be someday.
We've seen Terra, Darius, Raine and Eberwolf pop up in your AU, but if you don't mind me asking, what are the other "heads" up too? Is Adrian still around somewhere causing problems, does Hunter see Tina throw Mason during the Covention, etc.
i feel like i'm hosting a "Where are they now" segment XD
so, without there being coven heads or a draining spell, they all now have other jobs
Adrien fulfilled his dreams of becoming a director on the isles, trying to get his foot in the door. He is frequently disliked as a director and all of his projects have gotten poor reviews.
Osran got a professor job at St Epiderms, he's in the running to becoming the next principle
Mason has a construction company that benefits off of trying to keep people like philip out, rebuilding everything he has ended up destroying
he still hasn't been able to keep him out
Vitimir is an apprentice at Cornelia's small potion business modern day, so caleb comes by on the regular and sees him at work
there are some suspicions he has involvement with terra but nothing has been confirmed
Hettie is the Hexside school nurse, i'm sure this isn't a problem
