Oooh, so Angel and I actually haven’t had the pleasure of writing together much, even though we’ve been mutuals for.... What, almost two years now? Unfortunately that can be the way of things when we have muses who never really meet in canon 😔 (and I haven’t read cfyow) BUT THIS DOESN’T DETER ME!

I’ve loved seeing them on my dash, their Hisagi is such a joy - he’s kinda funny, kinda, sad, kinda horny - it’s an excellent combo that makes for a really interesting muse with some fascinating threads. I especially loved the ship between Hisagi and Kensei ( @txchikaze​ ) and the emotional roller coaster that has been. Everything Angel writes is deeply emotive and maybe that’s something that comes with the muse, but I believe it deserves recognition and praise regardless.

I also love their writing style, it’s so smooth and pleasing to read. I myself am not a good enough writer to articulate why I find someone else writing good but I can recognize when it is.

One day I really do hope we get the opportunity to write together, either on this blog or one of my others because they’re doing something really cool over there on that blog and I want to be a part of it!

❝ less obvious in what, kaname? do i want to know what it is that you're suggesting or shall i start making inferences? ❞ a rare thing, these days, a tone that quietly sharp. but sharp it is, a low and curt swiftness that is rather inspired by the comment. perhaps this isn't the best time for such a question.

--- well now. wasn't this interesting? he could very easily guess what had inspired this by kaname's own words of how this had been a dare and though he was well used to the other man's presence, kaname an even longer compatriot of his compared to gin -- the words were very much something interesting to him. an understanding man; what a curious turn of phrase to apply to him, a man who was working to etch his mark upon the fabric of the world, but kaname -- well. he would have made a fine samurai, the traitor thought. he was noble in his own way. but the words --- the words were enough to make an eyebrow quirk upwards. ❝ a dare, kaname? i wasn't even aware you paid attention to such things. but do you worry so much about a reprimand for using my name? ❞ perhaps he did. after all, aizen had not even needed to speak the night he had cast his captain down when kaname had insisted i will kill them when he had declined otherwise. only the barest glance over a shoulder, a flicker of something sharp --- that was all it had taken on that evening to make the younger man understand the meaning of when he had proclaimed it's alright. nothing more than a firmer tone of voice. nothing more than a mere glance to express displeasure. even back then, gin was his favorite. still, he was amused by this turn of events and a low chuckle of sound escaped the deity of las noches, a warm rich rolling noise that spilled out of his mouth before he was turning away from his left hand. ❝ really now, that's something that i didn't expect - for you to address me with such familiarity. ❞ there was nary an ounce of censure in his voice for that and aizen hummed once, a hand lifting as if to dismiss the other man - then a pause before his head turned and he was looking towards the man who was considered the general of his forces. ( gin is my co-commander--- )

❝ but, kaname. ❞ a warning tone in his voice, soft, quiet - threat, it might have whispered. but no - not a threat towards him. something else. something sharper, finer, much more than a mere display of something dangerous. this was chastisement, nothing less, nothing more. ❝ you will address gin with respect when talking of him to me. that is not a request. you may go now. ❞

memory is a strange thing. nelliel learns this tidbit of information after her metamorphosis into an arrancar. there are moments when she recollects herself as a hollow, eating away at souls, and then there’s moments when she sometimes feels like one of many; all strewn together by a deep, unimaginable emptiness, and an ache to feel satisfied. like an itch never quite scratched. always there & lurking. 

then she rises at the top again and she’s here, drawn back to the present where tosen posed the question. despite the interrogating-like timbre, nelliel genuinely thinks it over. if not for him, then for herself.

“ people? none i know about. if you’re referring to souls, then too many to count.” she pauses and lets the words sink in for a moment, lets her existence settle into that one sentence alone. “you’ll have to be more specific if you want me to understand and answer your question.”

@tohsen​ || Continued ❝ the very fact that you mention a name to make yourself feel better tells me that you are not able to reflect on your insulting self, sexta. this is not about nnoitra. this is about whoever dares disrespect lord aizen and his goal. he gave you power and you act ungrateful. whoever steps into his path will learn not to or learn no more. that’s all there is to it. ❞  

he steps forward. reiatsu rising ; a hint as to what expects the rebellious arrancar should he refuse to abide by the rules.  ❝ i am not interested in your feud with the quinto.  ❞ says kaname.   ❝ however, what   y o u   should very well be interested in, GRIMMJOW, is obedience. ❞

“Ooooh, my insulting self? What the hell did I ever do to you, huh?” Grimmjow protests. He doesn’t get it, but his very existence seems to piss Tousen off - and maybe even has from the beginning. Grimmjow doesn’t need to be liked - he doesn’t think highly enough of the other to want acknowledgement either - but he hates having a target on his back.

See, Aizen is weird and dangerous, but he’s never really given Grimmjow the impression that he particularly hated any of the arrancar. Maybe cuz they were his arrancar? Maybe cuz he just viewed the, as useful tools, and it’s hard to dislike a tool as long as it’s useful. Whatever. Respect wasn’t part of their agreement.

"If you wanted obedience you shoulda brought more of your shinigami subordinates with you.”

"shuuhei!"

a voice, calm and careful from behind, slowly approaches him.

"having so much to do is not always in my favor. i tend to forget certain things that my subordinates deem important. i should be paying better attention and will work hard on being the captain to you that you deserve."

he reaches out for the other take from his hand a gift, neatly wrapped in beautiful flower-petal-print. "however, i did not forget about your birthday. congratulations."

Even with Tousen’s instructions that he should be more mindful of his surroundings, Shuuhei had been so nose-deep in a ledger of the Bulletin’s budget that he he had not clocked his captain’s approach. Thus, he is a little surprised by the direct address (and by his given name, even). As soon as he looks up, recognizing the voice and confirming its source, he stands a little straighter instinctively.

Tousen’s words surprise him. Perhaps that is his own inclination toward hero-worship of his captain, but he often thinks Tousen can do no wrong. But he can always work this admission around into admiration for Tousen’s humility, for his willingness to acknowledge his own areas of potential growth. Truly, Shuuhei thinks, there can be no better captain, even as Tousen himself expresses the desire to improve himself.

To have the anniversary of his own meager existence recognized and congratulated on top of all of that, Shuuhei half-wonders if he had fallen asleep over that ledger and thereby entered a dream. Tousen is wishing him a happy birthday. Tousen is glad that he is here. Shuuhei’s chest swells with delight, though he does his best not to let the emotion get the better of him externally. He manages to keep his hands from shaking as he accepts the gift (Tousen had gotten him a gift!?) and holds it carefully. “I—! Th-Thank you, Tousen-taichou. I’m honored more than I know how to express. I—! Wow. Um…”

He turns and resituates some of the documents covering his desk until he has room to set the gift there so that he can focus on unwrapping it. (Is he hoping to keep the wrapping paper as its own memento graced by Tousen’s fingers? Maybe…) Even before completing that effort, he reiterates: “It means a lot to me that you would do this, Tousen-taichou. Really. I fear words won’t do justice to what it means to me.” Or, rather, the words which he wishes he could utter to express his feelings seem forbidden. All the more reason for him to treasure this gesture.
