While we were in Japan, we went to the Toho Cinema in Roppongi Hills to check out the cinema experience while in Tokyo. 

Japan Times prints weekly film times for all the main cities, in English, here - which is SUPER helpful. Most foreign films are shown in their original language with Japanese sub-titles. 

The multiplex in Roppongi Hills is right in the heart of a mall complex, is bright and shiny, and has nine screens. You can buy tickets from the row of machines in the foyer, with directions translated to English at the press of a button.

They run all-night screenings on Fridays, Saturdays and days preceding national holidays. Tickets are 1,800 yen as standard, or 3,000 for a ticket to their 'Premiere' screen (which comes with a free drink in their Sky Lounge, and the seats are paired sofas). There's a multitude of special days as well; a reduction to 1,100 yen on the 14th of every month, the same on the first day every month, parents mornings etc.

Food is way cheaper than in the UK, and the 50/50 popcorn bucket with half caramel and half salted is an absolute winner.
