ToLaC: Gwyndolyn

Well, now that there's multiple episodes, makes sense to make and pin a playlist post~ Tales of Lux and Cor: Gwyndolyn is an enhanced audiobook of a novella I wrote that takes place in the Kingdom of Cor in the world of Tenebrae. How enhanced, you ask? Well, not only does each character have a distinct voice, I've also composed music and commissioned art to enhance the story experience. There's a bit of SFX and VFX work done as well~ The story follows Gwyndolyn, a kobold that is born to a clan of koblods surviving the only way they know how in the Dragon Wastes of Cor: violently. But even as a child, she doesn’t agree with that way of life, which causes a lot of friction between her and her clan. Which is, uh, problematic, as the cooperative nature of a clan is very necessary for existing in a wasteland. After all, a useless kobold is an exiled kobold, and a clanless kobold is soon a dead kobold in the Dragon Wastes. Curious how Gwyn grows and survives in this environment that is wholly at odds with how she wants to live her life? You'll have to listen to experience the fraught and winding path her life takes! Here we are, the second episode of the of Tales of Lux and Cor: Gwyndolyn~

In Youth part 1, we get a feel for how the children of Gwyndolyn's clan are raised. We also learn how she feels about it, child though though she is.

Though, child she may be, she refuses to stay silent if she feels things are... stupid. Which often lands her in trouble. How she handles that trouble though? You'll have to listen to find out~

I wrote the story, voiced all the characters and narration, and composed all the music. Apart from the art, it's a one kobold show at Tales by Jin~

Hello lovelies~

The production of the next episode of ToLaC: Gwyndolyn is going swimmingly and is set to release on schedule next Friday~

However, I want to let you all have a little peek at my process 😮

Since this next episode has a bit less SFX than previous episodes, I decided to challenge myself a bit more with the music. So, for a particular scene in the upcoming episode, I tried writing a song that evolves and changes with the scene, instead of the typical background loop.

This image is the timing notes I took to craft the song around (sorry but spoilers have been redacted~😅)

I've put a lot of work into this almost 8(!) minute song, so I hope you will look forward to it in the next episode, and that it has the emotional impact I attempted to craft into it.
