dina can feel ellie’s fingers tracing over the scar on her back; the place where she’d been pierced with an arrow and, shortly thereafter, knocked unconscious.
the memories would come flooding back to her whenever she’d catch a glimpse of it in the mirror, or the times when it would itch and she’d struggle to scratch it. for the most part, she was able to shove those sour thoughts aside and go about her business as usual, but other nights she would wake up in a sweat from the nightmares. none of these occurrences were ever brought up to ellie, however, since dina knew they had enough on their plate-- even though she could tell that they would try to put on a brave face about it all.
there was no doubt that ellie was thinking about that night now.
“ hey, it was a long time ago, ” dina says, trying her best to assure ellie, turning back to look at them. “ i barely even remember it’s there most times. ”
