  she was thrown off by the question ; the people who usually kept her company did not particularly care what they meant to her, and the feeling was almost always mutual. had he grown attached to her ? had he developed feelings for her ? even if just platonic , mystique scowled lightly at the other.  “ what ? are you worried that you won’t get a holiday card from me this year ? ”   her sense of humor might not have been her saving grace. “ i’ll be sure to hand deliver it to you if that will make you feel better , dear. ”

Kitty had been being mercilessly teased by Summers. She was supposed to meet him to go to coffee, but instead he finds her running away to shove herself in a small space and cry.

When she looked up at him finding her hiding spot there is a red mark on her cheek as if she's been slapped.

          “So, you just come in for the music and atmosphere or would you like to order something to drink? Or eat?” Carmen inquired, looking at the peculiar young man. She hadn’t seen him in her bar before and wasn’t quite sure what to make of him yet. 

     As long as he didn’t order anything too extravagant his first drink would be on the house, a sort of ‘thank you’ for newcomers. The place was a bit hidden, the entrance down an alleyway but it kept the place from getting too crowded and out of control.
