For the Ghostbusters prompts: Yatesbert tries to get Holtzmann and Patty together?
I gotta say, I do like Tolmann if only because Kate and Leslie are ADORABLE together. Honestly, I find almost ALL the ships fun and interesting to write. I mean, obviously I get some favorite but, y’all, I’m having lots of fun writing all your stuff, keep ‘em coming (although I may be a little slower cause I do have an exam tomorrow morning that I’m supposed to be studying for oops)
Title: Excuses, excusesFandom: GhostbustersPairing: Tolmann (Patty/Holtzmann), with hints of Yatesbert (Abby/Erin)Summary: 3 times Erin and Abby made sure Patty and Holtzmann would get “quality time” and one time they didn’t need to
The first time Patty starts suspecting something is after the fifth time Abby volunteers Erin to help her pick up the food. “Yo, I know what y’all are doing. Stop it.” are the first words -supposedly menacing- out of the Ghostbuster’s mouth when her two colleagues walk back in the lab with their load of Chinese food. Erin’s cheek get slightly pinker but Abby offers the taller woman of the group her most innocent smile. “Feeding your ass, Patty? You,re welcome, by the way!” she answers, waving a spring roll under her friend’s nose. “You have one big bag and one medium bag. Y’all did NOT need to both go. Stop leaving me with Dr Frankenstein!” but her friends just ignore her and head straight for the table, mumbling about the bags being heavier than they look and not having enough money separately.
The second time it happens, they’re inspecting Grand Central Station and despite the ex-MTA agent’s plead to all stay together, Abby all but drags Erin of another direction, leaving Patty with the mad engineer who’s off on another tangent about the fascinating particularity of this ghost. “But don’t worry, Patty,” Holtzmann almost purrs, patting her tall friend’s back. “I’ll protect you.” The other woman sneered. It was a endearing that was for sure, that such a small creature as Jillian would so confidently offer herself to protect her. It was nice even, made her feel special. A loud clanking startles them and Holtz all but throws herself in front of Patty, only to find that the noise was just Erin who had circled back to them and tripped on something.
The third time is the most obvious of all.A particularly savage flu had been making its way through the team. It started with their redheaded scientist who had almost instantly shared it with her old friend (’It’s airborne, I tell you, she breathed too much close to me, I swear’ Abby had defended herself, they were fooling absolutely no one). Then Patty had it after accidentally mistaking Erin’s coffee mug for hers and then it died down, they thought they were safe. Until they came up one day to find an almost deliriously out of her mind Holtzmann handling thing she should not be near with a 102 fever. “Someone needs to stay with her and make sure she doesn’t blow things up or dies.” Erin worries, and almost as soon as she says it, she is being dragged out the door by her colleague. None of the excuses Abby gives make any sense (’I just got a fish and I can’t carry germs to it and Erin has a Nobel prize to win and they disqualify people with the flu’) before ordering Patty to not leave their friend’s side until she’s better. Really this is ridiculous.
When Jillian is finally all better and the color has come back to her face, she gives everyone a hug, even lifts Erin off the floor. She kept a surprise for her personal nurse though. When she plants her now germs ridden and non-contagious lips on Patty’s, it’s unnexpected and this time Abby and Erin don’t have time to disappear. Instead they coo and aww at the final product of their hard work. Although if you ask then, they’ll deny any involvment in that.
