Kristen Kish won season 10 of the cooking competition show Top Chef. When host Padma Lakshmi decided to leave the show after season 20, the producers asked Kish to become the new host.
Kish was born in Seoul, South Korea. At the age of four months, she was adopted by an American family in Kentwood, Michigan. Both sets of grandparents lived nearby. Kristen spent a lot of time with her grandmothers, who taught her their love of cooking.
“I was very fortunate to have two grandma babysitters constantly perfuming the home with their cooking,"
She considers this a huge part of her success. She decided to pursue cooking as her career and she enrolled at the Le Cordon Bleu culinary institution in Chicago. With that experience, she went on to work in many high-profile restaurants.
In March 2014, Kish publicly came out as a lesbian via Instagram. In September 2019, Kish announced her engagement to Bianca Dusic. They married on April 18, 2021
(As a fan of the show, I think Kristen Kish is terrific on Top Chef.)
