With the ashes of the academy comic coming out in less than a month here are somethings I hope are in the comic.

- just more of mai as a general outside of zuko and zuko related stuff. Ik it starts off with mai doing a favor for zuko but I hope it's her figuring herself out more so rather than a she wants to get back with zuko kinda way.

- maizula childhood friendship without completely villianizing azula in the process (since we already know we're getting flashbacks of when mai first met azula)

- at least mentions on tom-tom and mai's relationship with him. If they're going to focus on mai with children, they should include her little brother who around the same age as the other kids she's around. Idk what faith erin hicks has in store for mai with her little brother(if they touch on them at all) but gene yang didn't handle it very well. I'm not against mai growing to care for her little brother but I don't like how yang just went from mai not caring in the show to caring without any development. I hope hicks shows more of that.

- mai getting her own female friend or rival around her age outside of azula or ty lee. In hicks comics, she gave girls more relationships with other girls. Ex katara and jiang, toph and yaling, suki and biyu. I hope they do the same with mai.

- IF they decide to go down a maiko gets back together path, they leave it open. Like suggest that they both have romantic feelings and think of rekindling their relationship but don't officially put them back together at least for right now. If they do in another comic/book/movie whatever down the line irdc but for this comic I hope they focus on mai's character more.

- katara panel or mention (ik its not going to happen but I'm going to wish for any kind of katara crumb)
