So let me get this straight: the Federation broke away from the Empire because they were dissatisfied with how they were being governed, and so there has historically always been tension between the two factions because one is an imperial power whilst the other attempted independence from it. Caleb was then sent as an agent of the Empire to rise in the ranks of the insurgent faction so that he can control them in order to engineer ‘peace’ between them. They end up warring and Caleb destroys the Federation from the inside out, quelling another enemy planet at the same time, effectively returning full sovereignty to the imperial power.
Caleb and MC’s story in this banner is one of imperial counterinsurgency. Their mission was quelling anti-imperial revolution.
