"Mommy! Daddy! Wanna help!" A little girl exclaimed, putting her hands together to add some effect to her pleading. She kept on tugging and going down on her knees to convince them to let her help around the bakery, or at least learn something.
"Alright, Marinette, but be careful okay?" Tom Dupain gives in to his daughter's whining, as an attempt to shush the girl as there were a few customers waiting to purchase. He let his little girl watch him pound on dough, teaching her along the way.
The blue-haired girl tries to bring utensils over to her father, some tools being bigger than her body. She always ends up tripping on nothing and resulting in a few loud thuds and some ear-splitting clangs.
Another chime goes throughout the bakery, as the door swings open and close. Tom lifts his head up from pounding on dough, but his wife beats him to the greetings, "Welcome— Oh my, Mr. Agreste! Welcome, welcome!" Sabine Dupain-Cheng stutters.
A tall-well dressed man stands before the smaller woman, a beautiful blonde woman following behind with a small boy holding her hand. Both the woman and the little boy look around, pointing at a few pastries they might like.
Marinette stops at her tracks and looks over at the boy, who seems to be around her age. She hides behind the counter and eyes him, wondering how his hair looked so pretty. She points at his hair and suddenly says, "Fluffy." Everyone in the bakery (who are literally just the two families) looks at her.
Sabine panics and pushes her extended arm down, "Marinette, it is not nice to point at other people." She lectures the small girl. The bluenette pouts, putting her head down and apoligizing softly.
The woman behind Gabriel Agreste giggles softly, amused by the little girl. She walks over, the little boy following, and crouches down to meet her eye level. "Hello, Marinette. I'm Emilie. We both love pastries, right? Would you mind showing Adrien and I your favorite ones?" She smiles in a welcoming manner. Marinette trusts her and nods, and begins to walk to show them what she liked the most.
After about a few minutes, the little girl had shown them five pastries, describing what was in them, and telling them why she liked them the most. Emilie decides to get a box of each of the ones she picked. Both Sabine and Tom thank them for ordering, but Emilie dismisses them and thanks them for making such pastries.
Without both pairs of parents noticing, Marinette and Adrien had their small bonding moment. They both discussed what food they liked most, then turning into a small discussion of what animals they really liked.
"I saw this really cute ladybug the other day! It stayed on my finger for a while but then it flew away. Mommy says that ladybugs are a sign of good luck." Marinette tells the boy, in an as-a-matter-of-factly way. His mouth makes an 'O' shape as he learned something new. The bluenette looks at him, "What animal do you like?"
"I really like cats! My cousin has a black-furred cat and I really thought he was cute! I want a cat, but my mom and dad won't let me." Adrien pouts, his shoulders drooping down to add to his sadness. Marinette comforts the other child by patting his head.
"Come on, Adrien, time to go."
Adrien looks at his father, and frowns, "But I want to stay a little longer with Marinette!" He says, grabbing the girl's hand firmly in protest. Gabriel sighs and looks over at Emilie, she always knew what to do in these kinds of situations.
"What about you two give something to the other? Like an omen." Emilie smiles at them. Both kids pondered, and had an idea at the same time. Marinette quickly goes up to her room and grabs a small keychain. She goes down and sees Adrien holding a pin.
The girl hands over the keychain, which looked like the paw of a cat, and Adrien hands her his omen, a pin which looked like a flower. They held onto each other's gift and shared soft laughter.
They both find themselves waving goodbye at each other, frowns and sadness present on their faces. They wanted to stay a little longer, but that will have to wait another time.
"Until we meet again."
