You know what? I don't think you get enough attention for being as wonderful as you are. What other teacher would get into a snake enclosure on a field trip? What other teacher would be so bold, and daring, and adventurous, and thereby instill a willingness to take risks and be brave in her students? I admire you immensely, and I hope you have a wonderful teacher appreciation day/week/year. :)

Although parts of the work day weren’t great, the kids were and thats what matters the most to me.

What went wrong with the trial?

Nothing.. yet. I just don't know if it's logistically possible due to the three crazy weeks of testing ahead of us. When I made my unit pl*n, I thought I had two more weeks before testing started -- because, you know, I made the crazy assumption of going off the dates on the school calendar. They threw this zany sort-of-block schedule at us last week with no warning. Alas.

Freshmen test the third week, so thankfully all my students will be in class at the scheduled times during those two weeks I thought I had -- technically I still have them; the schedule will just be nuts. So there is hope here. Now I just need to look at when I'll see my classes, how often, and for how long, to see if there's even enough time in which to make this happen. We'll see.

What's the story behind your new photo? When, where are you? You look so happy, you practically glow off the screen. :)

It was taken before my foot surgery, but after my injury.  I was on a cruise with my best friend from college and one of my friends from my softball team.  I was actually REALLY sick with a sinus infection during the trip, but was determined to make the best of it.  It was a week before I lost my job.  My goal is to get back to that weight.  At the time, I was bummed by what I'd gain, but I look at the pictures from that trip now and I think I look great!  I also want to be back on track with how happy I was with life in general.  This year has been good to me professionally and I was really happy with my teaching in Ohio before budget cuts and office politics.  Now, I need to focus on getting to a healthier weight, making sure I'm eating well, regular exercise, and proper rest.   

I put it up both to out myself and to be a daily reminder that my health is important and it is something I need to work on.
