Whampoa by Tomjuno Listen/purchase: Whampoa by Tomjuno Inspired by location sound recordings in Singapore and exotic acoustic instruments collected from across Asia, Whampoa is the new digital release from Singapore based, London producer #Tomjuno. The album, named after a famous food court in Singapore, contains a blend of instrumental, organic electronic music, incorporating traditional melodies and rhythms from the multitude of cultures based in Singapore and beyond. These elements are combined with Tomjuno's signature percussion fuelled grooves and melodic, sparkling electro-acoustic soundscapes forming an abstract cacophony of east meets west sounds. The Asian identity of the album is enhanced with the use of many natural, musical and general ambient, location field recordings. These are woven together in the fabric of the music which document Tom’s experiences living and travelling in Asia and are a tribute to the different cultures that form the unique audio maze that is Singapore. Whampoa can be previewed now on Soundcloud and available on Bandcamp and iTunes via 900 Records from 1st March 2014. www.tomjuno.com tomjuno.bandcamp.com soundcloud.com/discography [email protected]
Solva by Tomjuno - http://ift.tt/1ozYSlc - Influenced by the shapes and sounds of boats rattling in the coastal winds of Solva harbour in Pembrokeshire.
Brunel by Tomjuno - http://ift.tt/1xGIU8n - Inspired by Marc Isambard Brunel's ground breaking first ever tunnel under the River Thames at Rotherhithe. Brunel is said to have been inspired in his design by the shell of the shipworm Teredo navalis, a mollusc whose efficiency at boring through submerged timber he observed while working in a shipyard. That's boring, not boring.
