hello Tumblr, it’s been so long. more than a year in fact. i feel a bit weird for ghosting here, because this was a place where i was definitely getting some genuine interaction and sharing, and with content that i connect much more personally to. however, i come back with some surreal and life-changing news.  2 weeks ago, it was announced that I signed to Constellation Records, with a new moniker, Joni Void, and my forthcoming album Selfless to be released on May 5th (on Delia Derbyshire’s birthday!). this album i’ve been working on the past 2 years, is an exploration of a more dark, cathartic side of my music, and emphasizing the “editing” nature of it, by containing no musical composition of my own, only using samples, one-shots and external sound sources. despite the title, it is an incredibly deep personal album, with lots of thought put on it, and definitely more concise as an album/work of art, than my johnny_ripper releases. it means the world that you all will be able to hear it finally, after keeping it to myself for so long. and finally in a different manner than my own digital self releases, as the Constellation family are the most caring people in making this record happen on their label, in a beautiful physical form. speaking of which, you can pre-order the album on their website page for it, which also includes a spot-on biography/description, but also the first song revealed from it - Dissociation, an “a-capella” techno song made entirely from vocals of my dearest friend Ky (who performs as Nag, and with Lungbutter), except for the kick and a “key-in-door” snare sound.  all this means that “johnny_ripper” has come to an end. however the previous albums will still remain under that name, except for To Alter Realities EP, because that was really the Joni Void debut/prequel to Selfless. anyway, so much to look forward to, more to be revealed. in the meantime, i hope to be more present on this website again. also, my asks are always open, so if you’d like to say something, be my guests. much love
