Faebruary day 10
TommyKnocker
Knockers are mischievous little creatures who live in mines, they steal tools and unguarded food, their name comes from the Knocking sound that miners hear just before a shaft collapses, some say this is the sound of the Knockers bringing down the walls as a deadly prank, others say that the knocking is a warning from benign spirits giving them a chance to flee. This duality of nature is a common fae trait, we can never be sure how kind or vicious any fairie will be.
Knockers travelled to the new world with the Welsh and Cornish miners who knew them so intimately and became popularly know as the Tommyknocker.
Note: I had something a little more elaborate planned for today but my PC had a deadly crash which fried some of it’s gubbins... I didn’t listen out for the knocking!
I have recently discovered a sub-species of gnomes/leprechauns who live in the mines and caves in the U.S. These creatures are called Tommy Knockers, and they are quite the specimen to learn about. They are mostly known for knocking on the walls of mines to indicate a cave-in. If they knock to cause it, or the warn the miners and spelunkers, that’s up for interpretation.
PS. Please don’t confuse this for the Stephen King story. We’re talking about folklore, not the book. You can learn more about them here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knocker_(folklore)
I just learned about Tommy Knockers & I'm crying 😂😂😂😂 cause this old lady lost her teeth & found in in a pile of dog 💩 & she said "welp.. I'll just be a tommy knocker lookin motherfucker cause i'm not picking them damn thangs up" 😂😂😂😂
There is a lot of debate on YouTube as to whether or not a rolled up magazine could be an effective self-defense tool. Let Professor Ronald Duncan have the final word.

I was at the liquor store several months back and found this one. I remember their Nut Brown Ale being pretty good when we stopped by the brewery several years back. So, when I saw an imperial version, and when I read that it was, “Brewed with pure maple syrup,” I knew I had to give it a try.
I have no idea how old it was when I bought it, but it’s been in the beer fridge for about a year, so even from the outside of the bottle, I could see a lot of sediment in it.
Numbers: 9.8% ABV
Appearance & Aroma: It was deep, dark brown, almost black in color, and had almost no head. There appeared to be a little carbonation in it though. The nose was like sweet dark caramel with some raisin and prune like aromas.
Taste & Feel: The body was medium – a bit lighter than I was expecting from such a big beer – and was smooth and drinkable. There was a sweet, roasted caramel and raisin like flavors up front. That was followed with a bit more of a nutty, roasted caramel flavor in the middle. The nutty and roasted caramel flavors grew a bit in the finish.
Food Pairing: With such a big beer, food is necessary, and this beer would go perfectly with a bowl of Chili on these cold winter days. During the summer, this would go very nicely with BBQ ribs, and I think the toasted caramel flavors from the beer would play nicely with a sweet BBQ sauce.
Overall Impression: Despite being brewed with pure maple syrup, there was no maple flavor in it. This was a richer version of their Nut Brown, but it was very smooth. I never would have... (More on Tommyknocker Brewery – Imperial Nut Brown Ale)
