Anyways, here's a public domain character of the day: Tommy Kwikstep, from The Wizard of Oz series, who was a courier who one day offhandedly made the wish that he had 20 legs so that he could run faster, not realizing that this would come true.
Among other things, this has the unfortunate side effect that he can't fit in most buildings anymore. He now sleeps in a large hollowed out log that is the only thing long enough that he can sleep in.
Also, walking for him is now extremely painful, because he has bunyons on every single one of his feet :(
