* // ⟨ UGLY LITTLE MONSTER ⟩
♡ :「 @tomoyh liked for a short starter 」 | it’s the age old story at yangcheon hill. a new family moves in. all eyes are on them and the inquisition begins. what do the family heads do? do they have a respectable job? (are they one of us?) and once the family heads pass, the attention is then directed to the children. how old are they? what do they do? (are my child’s achievements greater than theirs?) having lived at the hill her entire life, jiyeon’s had the privilege of having never been questioned, but her parents sure do a hell lot of questioning. she should be used to it, built up an armor over the years because it happened so often, but she still feels the ugly little monster growing whenever her mother compares her achievements to those of others. jealously is such an ugly look, and she hates being ugly.
now the nishinoyas are not the newest residents, but they’re new enough that her overbearing parents still have their eyes on them. hence, the biweekly comments on how the youngest nishinoya is so intelligent. as if the two children that they bore are not equally as impressive. faced with the little green monster, jiyeon does what she does best, squish it under her very expensive heels until it’s dead. (in jiyeon terms, this means she’s going to befriend the youngest nishinoya so that it will be more difficult to direct envy towards a friend). success rate for this has been a whopping one hundred percent. granted, she’s only tried it on one person, but she believes she can replicate the results.
“mind if i sit here today?” she asks, gesturing to the empty seat in front of the younger. it’s not often that she eats in the canteen, for lunch, but she decided to do so today on a whim. it was merely a happy coincidence that she found the next victim subject of her friendship experiment. perhaps there was someone up there who was helping her.
