never tried anything by this brand, it's not available here (most things aren't) but from vibes alone i don't feel so inclined to either, none of the notes pyramids for their fragrances speak to me. and i find the bottles ugly sorryyy

scent of the day: himitsu violets (régime des fleurs)

ugh. i really like this, which sucks, because i had to spray it 3x more than i usually would to get even close to a little bit of projection, and i am the opposite of a beast mode oversprayer, so that should tell you something. i just can't smell it unless i put my arm up close to my nose, and that's a shame for a scent so lovely, but especially for a scent so damn pricey.

anyway, of course i was going to like it, violets and heliotrope are my favourite florals and they are front and center here, and the leather is more of a moccasin suede rather than a new car leather, making it soft and not at all nauseating. the violets are impressively lasting, and they are the exact kind of violet that i love, edible-sweet and powdery. the heliotrope radiates a warm floral glow, and there's an almost minty undercurrent to the entire composition that keeps it from becoming cloying. it reminds me of someone's well-loved suede purse, with a spilled tin of violet pastilles, a pack of mint chewing gum, and lingering floral perfume. elegant, but not trying too hard.

all of this in miniature, of course, like handwriting so tiny you have to squint to read it. it gives my other leathery violet favourite (deadly nightshade by alkemia, now tragically discontinued) a serious run for its money, although they are very different in mood, but i just don't know if i could justify the price point given the performance.

scent of the day: tears (régime des fleurs)

a brief, interesting peppery-powdery opening, then a blend of resin incense and florals that become alarmingly soapy very very fast; extremely meek projection, same for longevity. i like the top notes, but overall it smells like a waifish, guilt-ridden girl who attended an exclusive all-girls catholic school and who now cries just like all the madonna statues. they're that kind of tears: luminous resin, resigned obedience. she's been up all night crying because she's fighting with her codependent best friend and now she's at morning prayers with a headache and burning eyes after an intensive shower to try to look presentable. a character for sure, but i don't actually want to step into her shoes.

and the longer it goes, the more generic the soap becomes, which is sad because i had high hopes for the fragrance's stated concept. like yeah the lilac note is pretty? i guess? but if you want truly devastating, poetic melancholy, this would not be my first or fifth choice.

Мне тоже пахнет огурчиком, только не соленым6 а свежим. И еще морской водой. Да, соль и огурцы я тоже чувствую, но они как-будто отдельно. Этакий пикник на берегу моря. Опять же уходит в большую маскулинность. Но свежак прикольный, попробую разносить.
