Only God Forgives
I just want to get across what a beautiful film this is.
Overall though, as a film, it didn't do a hell of a lot for me. Story-wise, etc. But it's slow pace made my mind wander to other things, in regards to cinematography; the framing, colour and the fact that it has NO GRAIN, (well, pretty much). A quick look at the imdb page reveals they used the sexy combination of an Alexa Plus and Cooke S4 lenses, which I know first hand, is a very sexy combination.
I'm not really sure where I'm going with this post, but I just thought it was amazing to see such a perfectly clean image. Even with scenes shot on streets outside where they couldn't have controlled the light as much, and would have been at the mercy of the existing street lights for exposure.
Seeing films like this is like going to church for me, it reinvigorates my desire to make films for a living.
I just want to get out there again and fuck some shit up! (Cinematographically speaking, of course).
