Dear Polynesians
Stop using the word “n*gga”.
We are people of colour. Our ancestry consists of a proud line of brown men an women. But being of colour does not give us a pass to continuously use a word that has degrading origins. Even if it’s use now is not with malicious intent, it still does not give us the right to use a word that’s not for us. It never was for us. That words use today denotes a shared history between black people. It’s not our history. It was never a significant part of our struggle. We as a people have historically experienced enough to know better. Not even as a people, individually you should fucking know better. We don’t get to pick and choose what we get to take from their culture. So stop fucking using that word.
