There were times Tonks missed living in the wizarding world, she missed many of the surviving members of the Order and her family of course, she missed the ease of magic. But in exchange for all she gave up, she got Remus-- he was her rock in all of this. Somehow they survived the war by the skin of their teeth and the first thing they did when everything was over was got married. Now they had a quiet life, Remus owned a bookstore they lived above in a nice three bedroom flat and she worked down the way at a hair salon.

She figured if she liked doing her hair so often she would like doing others and she was right. On the weekends she helped at the bookshop, putting away inventory, cleaning, harassing her husband, normal things. On this particular Saturday she was sat on the main desk, reading over an owl letter that Harry and Ginny sent, including a photo of their new baby. "I swear he's a mini Harry, he didn't get anything from poor Ginny."

Remus-- her first clear thought since the attack happened was wishing her husband was there and then suddenly he was, his strong arms wrapping around her, holding her to him, she knew she would be okay now. Nothing else mattered so long as she was in his arms and she offered a small smile, blood dripping from the corner of  her mouth “you’re late-- it’s rude to keep your wife waiting, Remus.”

Today’s blue eyes scanned over the canvas before her, peaking over her students shoulder, her bright blonde hair twisted up and helf into place with a paint splattered stick, clearly just the closest tool she could find to pull her hair up, only the blue tinged bangs framed her heart shaped face. Eventually, after a long pause, Tonks found her words “Are you okay?” Art was a wonderful window into the soul of the artist, and she would be lying if she said the window before her didn’t worry her, just a little. It was a lovely painting, if not a bit dark and concerning. Turning her eyes from the hues before her, she faced her student now.

“Come on, love-- you need to eat, you had a long night” Tonks spoke with a soft sigh, she sat before him a plate of various meats and a bowl of oatmeal with fruit, she wasn’t much of a cook, but she could at least fry things and stew fruits. Her mother was trying to teach her more, but it was a long and daunting process. She knew the night after the full moon was the worse, which was why she broke into his loft and sat waiting for him. The witch smiled as she always did when she saw him, warm and loving, even if it was yet to be returned.

It had been a while since Tonks stepped foot in Grimmauld place, maybe once since her husband died, it reminded her too much of him and of Sirius. But it had been some time since she took Teddy to visit with his God mother and she wanted to check on her, herself. The today blonde with brilliant multi-colored streaks in her short hair carted the baby up the stairs and knocked only once before the door swung open and she greeted her old friend  “Wotcher, Harriet” she greeted with a wide smile, Teddy cooing excitedly in greeting as well. “Sorry we’re late, Muggle transportation is a nightmare.”

“You’re a scrawny one, aren’t you? Well that simply won’t do” this was perhaps why Tonks was always in trouble, she was too trusting at times. But then again-- it also helped more people then it hurt. “Well it can’t be helped, come along little fledgling, in you come” at the very least she could feed a fellow witch.

“Cousin, you’re looking like shit” Tonks greeted as she entered her cousins compartment. School was over and they were on their way home for summer break, which meant a never ending line of parties and gatherings and she would be spending the usual two weeks with her aunt and cousin to attend most of them. The currently blonde plopped down across from Draco, already snacking on something from the trolley and changed from her school robes to a pair of ripped jeans and a Weird sister’s t-shirt and combat boots.

“I’m sorry, but you’re one to talk, you wanker” Tonks smiled as she leaned into his touch, her hand coming to rest over his, squeezing it. She had been so scared going into this, that she would lose him-- even with the battle raging on around them, all she could focus on was him. Leaning forwards she pressed a soft kiss to his lips “we’re gonna be okay.”
