Hap-Bee Holidays!!!
or, who wants to annoy the shit out of my friend’s abusive parents?
My best friend C (first initial only for subterfuge, on the unlikely chance someone in her family stumbles onto this post) has really, really, REALLY terrible parents. They’re unsupportive, selfish, and abusive in a variety of ways, and are unfit parents for both my friend and her underage sisters. C doesn’t live with them anymore and is an adult, fortunately, but they constantly make her feel like shit and I hate them. Anyway.
After the most recent round of terribleness, my friend was blowing off steam and joked that she could send them two copies of Bee Movie she happens to own as terrible prank Christmas presents. I suggested that she send the DVDs anonymously through the mail, and that I could send her parents a copy as well, and it spiraled until we realized that this was actually THE BEST PRANK EVER. It hurts no one, is relatively low-cost and low-effort, but will confuse and irritate her parents when they’re unable to determine where all these damn DVDs are coming from.
So, Tumbr friends. What I’m wondering is, who wants to join me in annoying these terrible people by sending them as many copies of Bee Movie as possible, for as long as possible. They have a PO box, which I won’t put in this post, but you can message me if you’re interested in helping and I’ll happily pass it along in a PM.
A bit of research shows that you can acquire copies of Bee Movie from online sources for as little as $1.50, plus $3-4 shipping. This varies depending on where you look, and if you can find cheaper copies in places like used bookstores and thrift stores, so much the better. Ideally, we’d like people to ship the DVDs themselves, preferably not including any part of a return address and addressing the package simply to “RESIDENT.” The concern in using Amazon or another online retailer to ship directly to the PO box is that it will be very difficult to obscure the sender’s name and address, although this article seems to suggest that there’s a complicated way to do it using gift cards. However, I think it’d just be easier to send it to yourself and then put it in a non-identifying package and send it on to C’s parents. It would be excellent if we got a few people across the US or even internationally to participate, but there’s absolutely no pressure.
Is this stupid? Yep! Is it pointless? Basically, yes! But it’s a totally legal, harmless way to enact revenge upon people who are genuinely some of the most reprehensible douchebags I have ever met in my entire life. (And it’s much cheaper than a glitter bomb!)
If you can’t or don’t want to actually send a DVD, but you’d like to throw in a bit of cash so I can buy more Bee Movie DVDs, I’d be happy to share my PayPal in a PM as well. ‘Tis the Beeson!
