You know GTA 5’s political commentary is extra shallow because if the writers really had the big bold ideological cojones they seem to want the audience to think they have than they’d definitely go out of their way to flesh out the Mike/Trevor/Brad/Amanda & Franklin/Lamar/Tonya/Tanisha parallel, delving into the similarities and differences between these two lower class, criminally aligned social circles across both different decades and different racial backgrounds.

🔎2. What is your favourite mission?

Knee jerk response is "anything including Lamar," but I'm gonna edit that to Hood Safari or Crystal Maze. There's a bit of breathing room to do the missions how you want, the dialogue is funny, and they're both still early on in the narrative.

🚫4. What is your least favourite mission?

Who likes the towing missions? I fuck with Tonya, but the game never makes anything substantial out of her character, even though they very much could have. She seems to exist primarily to be laughed at. She needed more attention & care.

🧠16. What is something you wish the game had more of or had done differently?

Rockstar is The Handholding Gamemaker™, so you've probably already heard this complaint, but I wish their were fewer mission directives like "walk to the x" "get back in the x" "wait for x," stuff like that. The player could use some room to breathe.

The last act of the game, where it starts taking itself more seriously, could've been drawn out for longer, and less watered down with gags. Michael's family could've had some depth; they could've left his ass after Meltdown, or at least had more emotional involvement in it. Since The Third Way is the canon ending, it could've been more complex as well, ala the final missions of GTA 4. It seems like that was a possibility at one point.

On that note, they should've let us play as Lamar, if just to hear his car crash voicelines & put him in some pretty earrings.

I was going to make a point about how it’s weird that Tanisha doesn’t get to wear her natural hair, Tonya doesn’t either (and on top of that gets shafted with the Ashley Butler red-40 dye job,) and the only female character with a black hairstyle is Denise - who is both plot irrelevant and basically an antagonist, which renders the detail less meaningful.

But it all made sense when I remembered that Tanisha’s main goal is to bag a guy with a legal, high paying job. Like duh. She knows what she’s doing.

im sappy so i like to think that tanisha, tonya (a older and clean tonya, i luv and only want the best for her), franklin, and lamar r still really good friends after all these years, and they have a group chat where they talk shit all day to each other (well not even to each other, its really everyone vs lamar because he’s always sayin the dumbest shit and the three of them are always like ‘nigga shut yo stupid ass up’ LMAOOOOOOO) and make plans that have a 50/50 chance of goin thru cuz they all busy and have kids, well everyone except lamar that is

they always try to make nice plans to go out drinkin or sumthin but it always ends up with tanisha, franklin, and tony extremely buried in work or too tired to go out, and because lamar’s schedule is always so cleared out he just shows up to bother them and help with the lil ones. no one minds this tho, uncle L to the rescueeee
