Approaching Leader had always been impossible. There was a gap between the team and them. The team was trained. Leader was engineered. It made a huge difference in manners and attitudes.
“But what if my art is too—”
Let me stop you write there.
It’s your art.
Do whatever the fuck you want and fuck anyone who tells you not to

Malec morning drabble #4 🌞
Alec hasn’t been home in a few days. He hasn’t been out of reach, Magnus saw him at the Institute, heard him on the phone, they are still making plans for a short trip in a few weeks, but he hasn’t been home. It makes Magnus restless. It makes everything he has to do feel more stressful.
Home… That’s how Alec called the loft the other day without seeming to realize it.
Magnus knows it’s just an expression, but he also knows everything this word carries. He is old enough to know the multiple ways various civilizations have used to call the safest place “home”. It’s not a coincidence if for a few centuries, he chose to make English his main language. Home is a beautiful word. One his Alexander never used for the Institute. He always calls it “the Institute”. But Magnus’s place went from “your place” to “home” and that’s something he isn’t willing to forget.
So, he wrote it down. With the date, circumstances and all.
Now, his loft isn’t just his anymore. It’s maybe not the first time, but it’s the first time that meant so much.
Alec’s presence is already everywhere. A jacket here, his toothbrush in the bathroom, a forgotten cup of coffee there… Magnus could snap it clean, but he doesn’t want to. It reminds him of the moment Alec left those things there, what they were doing, what they were talking about… and sometimes, it’s just funnier to do things “the Mundane way”. Clean everything without magic, making the dishes side by side. Time stretches and they are together longer.
Outside, the sky is as dark as the light illuminating the city are bright. Magnus sighs, loses himself in thoughts about missing pitch-black nights, silence and nature. They will have to plan some camping or stargazing soon.
He misses Alec so much it’s getting ridiculous.
Magnus glances at his phone on the coffee table next to him, almost giving in and grabbing it to send him a text, call him, anything to appease his longing heart. But the small organ jumps when his phone buzzes with a message from Alec “I miss you”. It’s simple, Alec’s feelings bared to him because he knows Magnus will take care of them, welcome them.
It’s the middle of the night, maybe Alec just got to his bedroom after a long patrol, or maybe he has been staring at the ceiling for hours just like Magnus has… thinking of home.
He doesn’t need to think of his answer “I want to portal into your room, can I?”
“Yes, please.” The answer is immediate, followed by a small heart emoji that makes Magnus smile and shake his head.
Not bothering to turn off the lights or finishing his drink, Magnus opens a portal and almost crashes into Alec. The first thing he hears is muffled laughter when Alec’s arms secure him before drawing him into a tight embrace.
For the first time in days, Magnus exhales in relief. He is home. Finally.
