Too Religious - Rock E
I've been told that I take things too personal and also (for the millionth time) that I don't seem like I really want to be/am religious, but that I'm just pretending. I've been asked "what kind of Muslim are you" and told "you're not really a real Muslim " and tonight that I just "seem" like I "want to be but not really". It's just really exhausting and I'm tired.

I had a conversation with my Mentor in which he stated that I was becoming too religious. That comment sparked my creativity and I decided to blog about the subject. I knew that I needed help with tackling the topic so I reached out to the intelligent, beautiful and spiritual Fatima Elswify. She agreed to give me her thoughts on the topic and below is our thoughts on the subject.
Hope you all can appreciate it.
Too Religious???
They say too much of anything is not a good. That can apply to most things, but not religion. Religion was created to make sense of the world we live in. How do things happen, why? Religion offers answers to those questions and more. Being into religion does not mean something is wrong with you or you do not understand the world. Most people are not into anything, drop their passions for laziness. Find what you like and go for it.
Religion has helped me throughout my whole life. I could not imagine my life without my belief. My beliefs have carried me. I put all my trust into God. In my darkest hours I would have not seen the light without God. I do not understand how people can downplay religion as if they have come up with all the answers. I feel as though it is important that as humans we express ourselves. Part of who we are is what we believe in.
Too Religious???
Is there a such thing as being too religious as a Christian? Many times people confuse religion with a personal relationship with God. It is definitely possible to spend too much time living by the law and customs that come with religion as oppose to developing an intimate relationship with God. Many nonbelievers are tied to religion by their upbringing and habit, so instead of it being a lifestyle it is another addition to their resume of extracurricular activities that make them a more 'well-rounded' person by the world's standards. In Galatians 3:11-12 it states "So it is clear that no one can be made right with God by trying to keep the law. For the Scriptures say, "It is through faith that a righteous person has life.' This way of faith is very different from the way of the law which says, "It is through obeying the law that a person has life.”
So depending on how you define religion, you can be too religious. If you define your relationship with God solely in His law as oppose to connecting with Him through prayer, faith, and reading the word than yes you are too religious. If you define religion as a constant effort to grow in your relationship with Him, to strengthen your faith, and to fulfill the purpose He has for your life than No, you are not too religious, you are on track.
My AP Literature Class.
Teacher: Why do people go to church?
Me: Because their parents make them.
Class: So they can feel closer to God and repent for their sins.
Teacher: Okay then, why do people go to church in large groups?
Me: So they don't die of boredum.
Class: Its a community and God likes it when people get along.
