The Raven’s fans, probably
i do like bruce??? i just think that the premise of "bruce's kids need to take care of him" is a little inherently fucked up. you know, like many comic readers and bruce fans have written extensive meta on this very subject on tumblr. the power imbalances may lessen over time between parents and adult kids but they truly don't go away. i was hoping to have a thoughtful discussion that would reveal why you liked the fic, and maybe that was parasocial and i apologize for that, but don't try to warp my point into something it's not.
1. At no point in your original ask did you ask a question. A conversation is an exchange, and you made a statement that i reacted to. My reaction was to disinvite further conversation based on my understanding of your statement.
2. I did not warp your statement, we are just approaching this from fundamentally different points.
And, because you technically posed a question in this ask, i liked the fic because it was a realistic and complicated look at what can happen when a parent has boundaries, those boundaries are repeatedly disrespected and ignored, what the consequences of that disrespect can be, and how hard it is for kids to grow past the “but theyre the adult!” stage even when they are fully capable of being adults in every other way. It is a kind and compassionate view of that reality without shying away from how hard all of it is.
Bruces kids arent asked to “take care” of him in that fic, they are asked to learn to respect him as a full human being with limitations, boundaries, and blind spots. If that basic understanding of a person constitutes as “taking care” in your eyes just because Bruce is a parental figure, then we are, as i said, approaching this from fundamentally different povs.
"And who are you, pipsqueak?"
Right after v9??? This was mean.
feeling the brainrot tell me to reread tgcf but I shan't. I shall not
is now the time to bring up the fact that mclaren is still holding that song from the car launch down in a basement somewhere?
