Too Much of Anything: Ch. 9 -- Nothing
I was sitting in the living room when my phone started ringing. Marck's caller ID was flashing on my screen.
"What's up, man?" He said.
"Nothing much. You?" I switched the channel on the TV and went back to talking to Marck.
"Well, Me and the guys are heading out. You in?"
"It involves underage drinking right?" I asked laughing slightly.
"Heck yes it does! So? You in?" He replied while I heard Renz and James shout in the background, telling me to come.
"Hell to the fucking YES!" I said getting up and I started walking to my room.
"Alright. See you in 10, man."
This is going to be a long night.
After a few tequila shots, we are still up. We are currently calling up random numbers and kind of prank calling them.
"Dude, dude. why don't we prank call the girls!?" I asked, slightly tipsy.
"Nah, man. They'll beat us up tomorrow." Renz said. I think he's the only one who's sober.
"Dude! Live a little! Come on!" James said, punching Renz's shoulder slightly.
"Fine. But if you guys get in trouble, I'm out." Renz replied as he shook his head.
"Pussy." Marck muttered slightly as he dialed Elaine's number.
Elaine's sleepy voice answered.
"Oh, hey there, Elaine!" Marck slurred.
"Hey Elaineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee." James shouted over the phone while laughing.
"Are you guys drunk?!" She asked with an annoyed voice.
"No, we are not drunk. In fact, here's King. We are not drunk at all, right man?" James put it on speaker phone.
"No, we are not drunk, Elaineeeeeeeeeeeeee. We are just having fun." I said, laughing slightly while drinking another shot.
I grimaced as I felt the burn slide down my throat.
"You guys should stop drinking. Its not good. I swear, you guys. I am so gonna tell the girls about this." She said. Why are you such a party pooper, Elaine?
"No need. We'll be calling them soon. Byee!" James hung up on her and we bursted out laughing.
"You guys are idiots." Renz muttered as he switched the channel.
"Hey, hey, how about Ariel?! Yeah?" Marck suggested.
"Nah." I said hesitating.
"What? You're tuning into a girl now, King? HUH?" James asked as he went all up in my face.
"Nah, man. Its just that--" James interrupted me when he made chicken sounds. Marck stood there laughing.
"Fine. Give me the fucking phone."
I jolted up and I saw my phone flashing on my bedside table.
My knees felt weak and I rubbed my eyes to check if it was really him.
His name was still flashing on my screen and I answered without thinking.
"Hello?" I answered, hesitating slightly.
"Hey, Ariel." His velvet voice replied. I sat up and pulled my knees to my chest. Even his voice could make me melt.
"What are you up to now, King?" A lump started forming in my throat.
"I just wanna tell you, I love you." He slurred.
"What? King, you're drunk! I'm gonna hang up the phone now." I said as my tears fell down my cheeks.
"No, no. Listen, I love you, Ariel. Coleen is a fucking slut. She was cheating on me the whole time. I want you, and only you, Ariel. You are so beautiful and I'm such a fucking idiot that I let you out my grasp. Now you're with Hartley. I love you, Ariel. Do you love me too?" He slurred, again. Tears rolled down my cheeks as he said every word. Every word, they went through me. Its as if he's stabbing me. Killing me softly.
I dropped the phone and sobbed. And the last thing I heard was..
"Hello?" A sleepy voice greeted me from the other line. I smiled slightly. Hearing her voice makes me happy. WTF is happening to me?
"Hey, Ariel." I greeted her, dragging out the last syllable of her name.
"What are you up to now, King?" She replied in a hard voice.
"I just wanna tell you, I love you." I slurred and smiled lazily. The guys were looking at me intently.
"What? King, you're drunk! I'm gonna hang up the phone now." She said shouting. What? She doesn't believe me?
"No, no. Listen, I love you, Ariel. Coleen is a fucking slut. She was cheating on me the whole time. I want you, and only you, Ariel. You are so beautiful and I'm such a fucking idiot that I let you out my grasp. Now you're with Hartley. I love you, Ariel. Do you love me too?" I slurred again. The guys went from quiet to mute. Their eyes were wide. Never in my life I have done this for or to a girl.
I heard some noise I think the phone dropped. I heard her crying... This made my heart break. Black spots are now crowding my vision that's why I told her the only thing that I know and I won't forget.
And all I heard was nothing.
