so this will likely be the only time i make a post like this, since i kinda had a realization of "well my gender is fluid, but when i'm a guy it's a certain way, etc etc"
so with that out of the way, introducing...Toonish!
Toonish (or Toongender) is a gender that can be described as toon-like, or similar to how you would describe a toon's gender.
Examples of why someone might describe themselves as Toonish: • You feel your gender is whimsical, lighthearted, and/or silly similar to a cartoon character, potentially in a way that doesn't suit typical "gender norms". You might play with these norms in expression, similar to toons such as Bugs Bunny • You would describe your gender as "whatever" or "amphibious" similar to Gonzo or Popeye respectively • You feel your gender is arbitrary, sometimes only coming into play "for the bit" • You feel your gender and/or gender expression is toon-like in nature, and/or you feel your attachment to the concept of toons affects your gender in some way
Meaning behind the design: • The optional eyes are common iconography for toons, and (hopefully!) gives an idea of what the flag is about from a glance • The visuals of ink & paper, with an aged quality to the colors • The gradient between the two represents a sort of ambiguity, and can mean whatever being Toonish means to you. Whether it's the spectrum between male & female, binary & nonbinary, or even a representation that life itself isn't entirely black & white - it's whatever you make of it!
I've also included Toonboy and Toongirl for those who feel their gender aligns more boyish or girlish in nature.
If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, don't be afraid to send an ask or dm me! I've never coined a gender before, so it's very possible I've made some sort of blunder lol
Feel free to add onto this concept! I've included the eyes used on the flag below. Please reblog this post or tag me with your concepts, I'd love to see 'em!
