Okay, so I saw a poll from the blog we all pretty much know by now and-
Let me break it down on why I personally feel like this is just a terrible take:
and if I get sniped down for this, honestly I don't care, I will stand on this
You all are just force hating on Quest and Myth and it shows very heavily! Please get off your high horse, I beg of you!
Now, let me hold your hand when I tell you this... there are other tags like #felix the wonderful cat, #twisted tales of felix the cat, #baby felix and friends, etc! If you're truly that bothered by it, then you can utilize these tags more! Make your own tags, even!
#Felix the cat is made for all Felix the Cat Content, and that includes, as much as you all hate it, Quest and Myth! That's how we discover other AUs, like Bloodclot, Celebritoons, Memory Lane Tour, etc! You don't specifically mention those despite having different iterations, why?
If we don't utilize these tags, how will we find golden pieces of work! That's what tags are meant for! Regardless of they are different interpretations, it's still the person and these people are utilizing these tags properly!
You also act like the community has a privilege to have constant official media debuting? Oh please! This is how we find our breadcrumbs! That's how a community works?? You're asking for basically copy and paste with little to no room for creativity, which is just something I've always been against! I digress-
Now, regarding to the last sentence you sputtered as the cherry on the top... really?
I feel like when people talk about me in any way in regarding to Quest, they tend to forget a very common factor in all my films is that I-
YES, IN MOST IF NOT ALL ITERATIONS IN OFFICIAL MEDIA-
I AM A SIMP, I SIMP FOR MOSTLY WOMEN, BUT I STILL SIMP!
Yes, the way Quest interprets simping is, a bit odd, but we are talking about the same person who barely spoke a coherent sentence when I first met Candy, Rosco's sister? The same person who literally MELT at the awe of a woman even looking my direction? Even in my oldest films, you can see I was a romantic!
Now, maybe a bit bold to say this but, the Quest hate is becoming extremely forced in this day and age. While I can recognize the flaws in the writing, the questionable scenes, the problematic AU of Quest, and its disgusting creator, lot of you guys are just spewing anything out to clown on it!
We can acknowledge its faults without, whatever this is; we can make jokes, we can redraw and revamp the AU, all that is amazing! Myth is quite literally an example of this!
To say that "I would get violent" at the sight of another of me simp over a love interest is just... mischaracterization, I fear?
I don't 100% like the interpretation just like some of you, but that's because it comes with context, with history, among other things!
I feel the yaoi subplot was rushed and very flat when it came to the potential it could have had! As someone who has the same issue with when Shadow the Hedgehog gets paired with a love interest that looks like his departed one, I don't like how the comic didn't take that seriously, it's disrespectful! Disrespectful to Ortensia, disrespectful to Maria! (A lot more questionable with Shadow the Hedgehog imo but I'm rambling)
Maybe the crush phase would have felt more natural if done properly, if it wouldn't feel so 'in your face' because of how cluttered it was with the main story? I particularly don't think the issues lies in the fact that I'm doe eyeing the rabbit! Lot of gay men can be like that! Hell, I even do that sometimes when I'm flustered! As much to my dismay </3
Which leads into the whole "Homophobia/Femmephobia and Fudanshi/Fujoshi Spectrum" speech...
Now, let me quickly explain for those in the back who are unaware of what a Fudanshi or a Fujoshi is:
A Fudanshi is a Japanese term adopted by men who are fans of BL (Boys Love), while Fujoshi is the term to describe women who are fans of BL; many Fudanshis/Fujoshis can interlap with LGBTQ communities!
We all know Rouge loves creating gay men, and while I can not confirm if she used this label on herself, she would fit in this category, but she particularly sexualized BL to dust, and it clearly shows in all her work.
While her subplot ended up falling flat, it could have been easily repairable! Let's not forgot the comic went on hiatus, which can very much shorten the perspective what it could have been originally! I do not want to personally find out but, it's still a factor we need to think about when we look at the comic!
Like I said before, many gay men can react flustered to their crushes! I believe an argument I often hear is "He is a grown ass man, why is he acting like that" or "He acts like a high school girl when he is in his 30s!" and to that I leave you with this question:
"Are men not allowed to express themselves in childish ways after a certain age? Perhaps even femininely?"
An issue that has been happening for a long while now in the LBGTQ community is the hatred/sexualization towards feminine presenting men.
Quest Felix representation of queerness isn't inherently a bad concept, it's just the dynamic it get puts into makes it hard to watch, especially when you look at it in Quest Oswald's perspective; this person reminds him of his departed wife, hugging a stranger at a restaurant he assumed was his wife, which definitely can make him relapse as well as hurt Quest Felix terrible if he ever discovered later on when the relationship is fully developed between the two.
Quest Felix has even shown even some level of self-awareness towards his behavior, which implies that he is just as shocked as we are, the viewer, when he reacts that way
As Sheba explains, "You're just in love" even if I feel it would been better if they went into more depth, I just think that sentence isn't taken as seriously when it comes to Quest Felix, who is just discovering his attraction to men, and even attraction to anybody at all, that it's okay to be vulnerable and express himself freely!
(Which unexpected aro-spec representation is so goated-)
He isn't being disrespectful either! He tries to not make things weird, he tries to make sure Oswald is okay, as much he is a stranger and doesn't pry into his life, only just discovering he even had a wife!
Even other instances of taking care of Bendy when he neglects himself, albeit strange in that one single frame, and telling Sheba to stop chasing a bunny child to cuddle, knowing that she is a stranger!
Overall, he is one of the lesser problematic characters in Quest, more so a victim to the underdevelopment just like the rest of the characters! I wish he was also depicted older in his design to match his age at least but that's something we all know Rouge had trouble doing
Quest Felix is something I've actively reclaimed, and I'm not saying you HAVE to like him in any way, but the amount of trashing on not just the original, which has some hold to why you would, but OTHER "Quest-like" iterations that people, who aren't even as harmful as the original, who wanted to reclaim something and make it what they believe should have gone, is just being disrespectful at this point
The fact so many of you agreed is actually so disheartening as a community, it's like you all forget the basics of not only my character but also how communities itself even work
Let people have a little fun, yeah?
