GREAT to see Night Of Thunder win again. <3
Ridden by James Doyle (blue silks, right), joint-favourite and last year’s 2,000 Guineas winner (”fluke”, as people called it) won the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury today, 16 May 2015
- His first victory since the classic one year ago, but he has run some notable races since, including a runner-up finish behind Kingman in the 2014 James’s Palace Stakes at the Royal Ascot meeting and second behind French star Charm Spirit in the 2014 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes also at Ascot.
Stable companion Toormore and Richard Hughes (light blue silks) came late to finish second by a neck, Arod and Andrea Atzeni (between Night Of Thunder and Integral) finished third, with the other joint-favourite Integral and Ryan Moore (red/white silks) a neck behind in fourth.
Trade Storm and Tullius did not run.
