He’s got three, maybe four things he wants to say. Starting with ‘What the fuck, you inconsiderate prick,’ and ending somewhere around ‘I’m not old.’ Which, well. Everything was irrelevant with Hayate, in the grand scheme of things. Either the guy read his mind and knew what he meant to say before he said it, or he had no clue what the fuck Genma meant. It usually just prompted an endless stream of obscenities— but then again, nearly everything brought about the cursing, so maybe it wasn’t such a big deal, anyway.
He lets the flak jacket last a solid three seconds on his face, fists balling and then falling away, arms crossing round his chest and procuring the jacket, tossing it right back at the other jonin.
”Thanks, thanks, yeah —— you wanna go grab some drinks? Raidou’s not due in for another three hours, and I’m more than willing to erase the memory of yet another shitty birthday.”
A pause, expression indecipherable.
”If you’ll have me, ‘course.”
There's hardly a flinch when the jacket is flung back in his direction, hitting roughly the same area he would have once cowered to protect. But that had been so, so long ago now.. years, that he had since healed and come back to the public eye and back to Genma's predictable mess of a personality.
Not that he didn't love it.
Hayate raises an eyebrow at the offer, unsurprised upon the mention of Raidou being gone. Of course, he is. Nonetheless, spending any time with his closest friend is valuable, no matter the reason.
"What would you do without me? Of course I'll go drinking with you."
He fails to mention it's dangerous for a man with an illness to be ingesting alcohol.
